Lois,

Glad to hear from you today. You must be feeling better - whee!

Hope those nasty cold germs you had will stay on your side of the Continental Divide!

Isn't this exciting? The FINAL countdown! :cheermed:

P.S. Terry and I voted on my birthday, dropped off our ballots and went for a little fall leaf drive in my Vee Dub. :veedub:

xxxooo LW has her good eye on you! :cateye:

DAY 78 ;)

Hello, my Friends!

My computer is SOOOooooo unreliable these days!!!! If you ever check in here and I've missed a day (or two!!!) it is because of technical difficulties :hammer:

I decided to do yoga again today. I'm still not feeling quite up to snuff, as they say 8) My daughter came down with the flu two days ago, and that sort of thing tends to get "passed around" the family.......ugh!

So....I'm hangin' in there!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for your words of support, one and all!

hugs to all,

Lois

DAY 79 ;)

Hello! I'm feeling better today and even tho' I've done my morning yoga, I may still get out for a walk....if it doesn't pour with rain, that is

We have a mini-trampoline ("rebounder") which may become my alternate exercise this winter....sometimes it gets so icy in Philadelphia that walking is hazardous. It's hard to believe that those cold and icy days are right around the corner!!!!!!!

hugs to all,

Lois

From California - What is snow? I think it is that white stuff that accumulates in the freezer after years of never turning it off... Close?

I spent the first 30 years of my life in Cleveland, Ohio where it snowed from Halloween to Easter. I then moved to the DC area where it snowed less frequently but when it did, everything shut down for a week.

This will be my second Winter in Houston where we get no snow. I absolutely love it. I will take the Summer's heat over the Winter cold and snow any day.

Just my 2 cents...

DAY 80 :yippee:

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey! :uhuh: You poor souls living in the eternal sunshine only THINK you have it made!!!!!!! Honey, that first snowfall of the season is a near religious experience ;) !!!!! And if the white stuff falls on Christmas Eve....well, we can scarcely contain ourselves!!!!!!

How do you think we rationalize living here in....God help us.....FEBRUARY???!!! It is the memory of early winter and that magical first snowfall, dear! Selective memory is a funny thing! :nutz:

Speaking of the weather....today is a GORGEOUS day in Philadelphia! It rained all day yesterday....but today is sunny with a bright blue sky, and the leaves are BRILLIANT. We have a bright yellow maple tree just outside our bedroom window.....gorgeous!

I've done my yoga for today, and boy, am I ever feeling better 8) Back pain is no joke. I can't even imagine how people with chronic back issues make it through the day. I never would have survived without my yoga mat!!!!!

I am going to be away from the computer for the next two days, so I'll post again on Monday. In the meantime, keep on shakin' on 8) .....and GOOD LUCK to everyone weighing in on Sunday!

love and hugs,

Lois

And this winter promises to be colder than ever! That's just my way of saying I'm FREEZING all the time. Everyone at work probably thinks I'm nuts 'cause I constantly have a little space heater going in my office. THey come in and think it's a sauna in here! I've always been a cold easy, but since MF I'm positively glacial! (I even try to "sneak" my cold hands onto my daughters back or belly at night to warm them up, [cause she's a little heat box] and she squeals and "yells" at me!) She's onto my tricks! ;)

Ah well, I'll wear 3 sweaters and a parka if I have too... it's WELL worth it! Enjoy that nice weather in Philly while ya got it. I'm in Cincinnati now, and here they also panic with the snowfall. We get it here, of course, but I grew up south of Cleveland in the SNOW BELT, where you didn't shut down for a blizzard let alone a few measly inches!

Good Morning ~

Have a lovely weekend, Lois. We won't worry about you since you wrote about your weekend absence from the :puter:

The frost is on the pumpkins here this morning, the sun is peeking above the fog and is promising to soon be shining! The leaves are beautiful and the air is crisp.

re: being c-c-c-old...yep, it does happen when Medifasting.

After losing half of my body weight, I am STILL chilly - we have a feather bed, a down-filled comforter AND I have a little heating pad for my tootsies - that's YEAR round!

I wear gloves all the time - you can well imagine that LW has some lovely gloves to go with her outfits!

The only time I was warm was when we were in Kauai!

Hello, Friends!

Well....I didn't die, but my computer did!!!!! Yes, indeed, it died never to rise again. Then, within hours of my (ancient) laptop's demise, our family PC bit the big one. Not a good day for computers at our house.

Fortunately, my husband is a techno-wizard...but it took several days to order/install what we needed to get things up and running again.

This is my first time on my "new" laptop (a refurbished one that is now as good as new ;) )......and boy, is there a LOT of catching up to do !!!!!!!!

First off, I am alive and well.

Secondly, the time away gave me somew time to think....and pray.....and I've made a few discoveries and decisions.

When I first came on board at MF, I weighed 230 pounds and was absolutely MISERABLE. Thanks to MF and this FABULOUS forum, I have lost 60 pounds and am recovering my health and happiness.

I am happy when I look in the mirror, and happy with my life.

I think I probably have another 10 to 15 pounds to lose....maybe even 20....and my plan WAS to get all the way down to a "goal weight" using MF.

But.....just as I believe God led me to MF and this wonderful forum, I now honestly believe that it is time for me to learn how to eat "real food" and take however long it takes to lose the rest of my weight....however much that is.

I know this all sounds extremely wierd to some of you, and that's OK. It would take pages and pages to tell the whole story....and even then there would be unanswered questions.

So let me just say this again: Medifast and this forum have been a blessing in my life 100% and without exception...... and I guess I'm just going to have to ask you to believe me that the time for me to move on is now, rather than ten or twenty pounds from now.

I am working one-on-one with a counselor and a 12 step program food sponsor from here....they are providing the support I need as I travel the rest of this road and learn how to eat and live as a normal-weight person.

There is so much inner work to do, so much on-going emotional, mental, and spiritual work. If it were just about the food, I would have been thin long before now.....but it's not just about food. It's about LIFE. It's the rest of the stuff...the emotional, spiritual, and mental stuff.... that takes time to sift through, and that is what I must focus on now. I am hoping and believing that with God's help, I'll keep this weight off for the rest of my life.....one day at a time.

I extend my heart-felt gratitude to each and every one of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would NEVER have gotten this far without your love and support.

My parting words of wisdom are.....

You can do this if you REALLY want to!

Get the support you need from this magnificent forum.

Take your time....the weight WILL come off.

Try not to over-focus on the scale....it'll make you crazy.

Believe in yourself....you're WORTH it 8)

LOVE and HUGS to all,

Lois

Lovely Lois ~

Oh, yes! I do so understand the internal, the mental, and the spiritual issues of getting healthy. It is about balance in all areas of life. We are not just physical beings; all the complex parts of us need to get healthy: mind, body and soul.

We are not about a number. Our self-worth ought not to be wrapped around the number on the measuring device. I have come to understand that my self-worth, my value as a person is the same at 265 as it is now. I am not a number, I m not a dress size or a shoe size. Neither are YOU!

This reminds me to mention Linda Spangles’ book, Food is Easy, Life is Hard. It is an excellent book!

I applaud you for recognizing the need to meet with a counselor. We go to the dentist when we have a toothache rather than tie a string around the hurting tooth and link up to the bumper of a fast moving car swinging door; we go to the podiatrist when we’re having tootsie troubles, we go to the hair salon when we want a stylist’s expertise and not a home haircut with a FlowBee. There are times in our lives when we need a counselor or a life coach to help us in our journey forward.

You have helped so many of the MakeMeThinner Family – bouquets to you, Dear One. :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose: :rose:

We hope that you check in with us once in a while and keep us apprised of what’s happening in your life.

Blessings in abundance be yours, Lois. May the Lord shine His countenance upon you and give you His peace.

Lois,

I don't think what you're doing sounds weird at all! I've had the same feelings for a while now - that MF is a blessing and that I will continue to use some of the products long term but that I need to figure out how to do this for the long term and with real food.

I am happy with the weight I have selected as my goal and after my toning routine has had more time to work, I may decide I'm really "done". I may ultimately decide to lose 5 or 10 more pounds but if I do, like you, I hope to do it by managing how I eat real food.

I also find myself in a strange place. In the past I have either been on a diet or on an eating frenzy. I now have to learn how to eat to maintain my weight - not to lose and not to gain. To do this, I know I will need to control and closely monitor my eating - keeping a food journal is not something I'e ever been able to stick to, but I really need to.

In any event, most of us are not here because we had a few extra pounds to lose. We are here because we have long term eating problems and have not been able to manage our food intake properly. I think it is important that we all look within ourselves and try to understand our issues and then find the best way we can figure out to deal with them. That may be different for each of us and we need to be accepting of that.

Good luck to you in your next phase and please do keep us posted as you continue on your journey.
