sorry about my humidity issues. You would think in the NW with all the rain we would be high. But no, not the case. When I visited my mother in Florida every summer, I could loose 10lbs of h20 , easily.. I remember being concerned about something with salt in it. And my mom said, 'oh dont worry, you will sweat it out. Lick your skin.' By gosh, my skin tasted so salty. eeshhh!

anyhow, you asked about the years, 29! With the big one coming up next year.

honestly, my mouth watered when I read what's cooking at your house tonight. Yum.

Hey, I heard that about being lower than me today!!!! I have an excuse, though, because I always bounce up when I lift weights. It's OK, though, I'll let ya beat me. You certainly beat me in the speed department, getting to goal. Took me forever, thanks to my pokey metabolism.

Enjoy your guests. I had pork roast for dinner, too (had it for the first time this week, actually; I've eaten ham and bacon, but I've never actually had pork - roast, chops, or however else it comes - before). It was yummy, except for the huge side of guilt that comes with it!

Hi Lizabette,

I have catching up on the last few pages of your journal. I don't get to stop by as often as I would like, but man o man, I am on dial up and it is like living life in slow motion! But I so love to check in and see how everyone is doing.

Your move sounds wonderful. (Well not the actual moving part). I find myself thinking more and more about moving someplace that is easier to care for. We have 7 acres and a HUGE yard. Now that my husband has been laid up for over a month it seems biger than ever.

I used to live in the south and I gotta say...I don't miss the humidity.

Guess I'm going to have to get a perometer, the curiosity is driving me nuts!

Be good to yourself while moving and don't strain yourself or stress too much.

Our long time friends arrived this evening. First thing she said (she's very blunt sometimes like we 'experienced' guys can be.)
"Oh, you've kept your weight off, but you look great!" Well, of course I expected that since always before I yoyoed,
until one never knew where I would be weight-wise from one time to the next!
But a backdoor NSV, no less!
We've had a great time catching up on everything from births to deaths of friend and foe alike.
Everyone has now settled into their bedrooms, and I alone am up journalizing.

Thanks for popping in, MICK. Always glad to hear from ya'. WOW, 7 acres to care for. How do you do it without DH? Hope he gets better real soon.
Yeah, a pedometer does keep track of our activity or inactivity, whichever!
I didn't get my 10,000 steps in today (only about 7,000) Not good, but I'm hoping next week I can do more exercise-wise.
Thanks again...I know about that slow motion internet...drives you crazy!
ROBIN, It is frustrating that the more exercise we do, it does not reflect in a weight loss. I understand it, but I don't like it.
Still I know that it is muscle weight which is good, so what's a person to do.
The pork loin roast is 'the other white meat' and is okay on plan. I don't know about the pork chops or other pork roasts.
I think they are fattier, and I have to be careful about them.
No guilt at all about pork loin.
HOL, grats on the 29 years. Compared to DH and my 60 years, you're still on your honeymoon!
Come to think of it, sometimes we feel like we're still on ours too, with some obvious exceptions of course.
Right now, we're both pretty excited about our new move...and planning things like newly weds!
Okay, that's it, folks. See y'all at Roll Call!

Ah, but that's the thing about maintenance. If I eat something fattier for dinner, I can just cut back on fat the rest of the day. As long as my daily totals work out to where I want them to be, I'm fine. So if I have beef, I skip the nuts and low-fat mayo and any egg yolks I might normally have. No biggie, at least for me.

But I think all those other pork things might be a little too much for me. I'm still struggling with the concept of the tenderloin. My parents would be rolling over in their graves. But a girl can't live on chicken breast and fish alone. And steak is getting less and less appealing; most days it's not WORTH skipping all that other stuff.

BTW, are you starting to view things that way, too? Like, I love peanut butter, but I'm having it less often because all I think of is how much other stuff I have to trade for it (no nuts in the afternoon, etc.) and I decide I don't want it after all. I've stopped thinking of foods as off-limits and started thinking of how much more I could have instead (like the muffins this week at work; sure, I could have a half, or even a whole one, OR I could have all my regular food and be a lot healthier and a lot more satisfied). Weird, but I'm finding myself with a whole new attitude toward food. You, too?

Liz & Robin,

I love hearing about maintenance. It is good to know that you still have things you love, within reason, but it is all about balance and choices. I think a lot about maintenance since I hope to be in transition by winter.

JULY 29, 2007 - 131#

Thanks ROBIN for the input. It's actually after midnight (Mon. morn) before I got back to the computer.
Hope to be back in the morning to follow up your post.
And yes, for sure I do have a whole new attitude toward food...food is not all-important to me as I remember it used to be.
I had my yummy Sunday treat today, and as you said, I substituted and subtracted other foods to make up the difference in calories, etc.
MICK, thanks for dropping by again. I hope that by the time you transition you will be grounded enough to flow right on to maintenance.
It's definitely a learning process for us all.
I'm glad this forum is a help to you as it is to me.
