Gene Kelly and Danny Kay are still my ideas of perfection.

Hi, sneaking into your conversation adding my two cents.

Doing well here on day 23.

When was it that you started incorporating exercise? The quick start guide says to refrain from it for the first few weeks, but now that I have completed 3 weeks I do not have any excuses.

Hope you will have a lovely evening,
joy

Oh Yeah, JOY, I really like Gene Kelly and Danny Thomas, too. And Frank Sinatra and Elvis.
Oh, really there are too many to name.
You know, I don't think they make 'em like that any more, do you?
YAY on day 23! Doin' good, kid...
It's been a long time, but I think I started serious exercise about a month in. But I actually walked quite a bit before I started.
And even did water aerobics some before I started. But of course, I didn't lose weight because I was eating too much! Until MF!
Now I try to do something 5-6 days week, at least 30 - 60 min. And watch what I eat!
I hadn't really been counting calories that much until a couple days ago because I more or less thought I had it to about 1500 calories a day.
Now after checking closer,I see that it is almost 1800-2000 a day! YIKES!
But I was still maintaining close to goal, because of the more strenuous exercise....fast walking tapes, water aerobics, weight resistance training, etc.
So, I can see that if I want to lower the weight a few pounds, I will need to cut out a couple hundred calories a day for awhile.
Although, I think I am okay like I am, but you know how we are...
Well, I didn't mean to go into all that, but I need to focus a little more on exactly how much I eat! Portions.
Even healthful foods are fattening if we eat too much of them.
To sum it up, I feel that exercise is a huge key to my maintaining. For me!
And it makes me feel better, too!
So there you have it from the Silver Fox's mouth, baby doll!

Lizabette,
I have no idea how you do it. Just thinking about your exercise makes me <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_11_115.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D7%252F7_11_115/image.gif"> I really hope I have as much energy as you do. Can I ask a question? Can you tell me what you eat in one day being on maintence. Just want to know what i have to look forward to.

MONDAY JULY 23, 2007 - 131.7# 8)

KATIE, my sweet. I guarantee that I did not always have the same energy that I now have.
I've always been more laid back and slow of the metabolism type.
Oddly exercise and losing weight gives us more energy. It's like a bonus gift!
I'll be happy to go over some days of my maintenance meals with you a little later.
I'm getting ready to do several things before going to the Urologist for an evaluation for a Trans Uretheral Sling.
I am as in the dark about it as I can be...but I'll know more later.
ROBIN has done a good job with some of her menus in her journal.
Everybody does it differently, tho', according to ones likes and dislikes of food. Important thing is to eat healthful foods, leave off the junk food.
And I try to eat my last snack about 3 hours before bedtime. (Remember this is for maintenance!)
Even though I admit I usually have a treat at least once a week. (Mine is lemon pie on Sunday)
I'll try to get back later. Thanks for coming by and asking.

CHI, You're the berries...maintaining like a pro! I'm so proud of you!
Guys, I did my 30 minute aerobic tape this morning before leaving for my new Gyn Doctor.
She's evaluating me for a Urethral Sling procedure, sometime in the not too distant future.
But as she was doing her exam, she asked me if I exercised. Yes. She said she could tell!
Is that great or not, that she could tell just by listening to me breathe, she could tell! Nice NSV!

Okay, I'm supposed to do a sample food menu for you and Katie that I
eat on maintenance. A typical menu:
Breakfast: Always oatmeal with flaxmeal (1T), Craisins 1/4 C, a few prunes, 1/2 skim milk.
Early Lunch: Whole Wh. Lean Pocket Pizza (210 Cal) green beans or spinach.
Aft. Snack: Granola Bar (160) with P/B (1T)
L & G: Chicken stir fry, or Lean meat, salad, veggies, Ezekiel bread, buttermilk,
Snacks: Almonds, 1 0z., fruit, fudgecycle (40 cal)

On Saturday, usually lean burger w/ Ezekiel bread. (I haven't touched a bun since beginning MF. Usual veggies.)
On Sunday, my favorite lunch is Mexican...2 chicken tacos w/ salad, salsa. Or Salmon w/ salad-veggies, fruit.
Favorite treat on Sunday, Lemon Merengue Pie.
I know I'm leaving out something important, but you get the idea.

CHI, I had in mind that you were leaving last Saturday on your trip! YAY!
You're still here and getting excited about it! Goody gumdrops!
:-P

JULY 24, 2007 - 131.6# 8)

Inching down a little. I wanna do a four-miler after while so will come back later.
I don't usually exercise before 'brekus' but I may this morning, since I'm up a little earlier. This is kinda cute, I thought...

Thanks, TEE. my little friend.
Well, back again to report that I did my 4-mile fast walking tape. Feels so good, afterwards!
I ate a small snack of almonds and craisins before exercising and then ate my biggie brekus after.
Not to say that will be my custom, but it was not bad at all!
Our Strong Women instructer is out on vacation this T & TH, so I will just substitute with something else.

Oh, guys, I mentioned earlier about checking out Garden Homes, and I'm pretty excited. Checking further on one we love this afternoon.
If it works out, I'll have a big room for a separate exercise, sewing, hobby room, etc.! Funny, that seems very important to me now.
So convenient to everything, shopping, restaurants, hospital and doctors, and just a hop and jump (about 1/2 mile) to the Y!
Well, anyway, as I said...if it works out!
Nothing happens unless you dream about it first!
All for now.

Lizabette;

I really liked that cartoon, too. And I hope things do work out with your new dream home. It is so much fun to get a new place! Not so much fun to do the actual moving, though.... Have a great day!

Yeah, NICK and DEDE, even though that funny cartoon exaggerates the issue of exercise, it 's pretty true in the long run, don't you think?

Okay, guys, Hold onto your hats! Today, we bought the Garden Home that I told you about in an earlier post.
We've talked for a long time about our future of one of us being left alone, and when this heart thingee of DH happened recently, we got more serious about it.
We'll miss our home here on the lake, I'm sure...but we looked at the long view and decided that this would be the best move for both of us, while we are still both relatively youngish and healthy and can enjoy it together. With lots of room for our family and friends when they visit.
And for all the reasons I mentioned in the earlier post.
Did I mention that the small yard is maintained, but other than that the home is like any other nice home.
Neighborhood is lovely and most residents are retired adults.
Busy days ahead for us...

NICK, when we retired here from OKlahoma City about 14 years ago, we said we'd never move again. Famous last words.
DEDE, thanks for popping back in to see me. I miss you, miss you

Thank you, thank you CHI for your good wishes.
Now if we can just get through the next coupla' months, moving and selling and decorating,
Oh, I wish I had someone like you here to walk me through it all. You could be like my sister, who has gone on to be with the Lord.
Oh, I forgot to say, our new home will be just a very short distance from our church, too.
This is all too exciting!
And here's blessings and prayers for Errin!
