Hey, Mickey, not to butt in here, but my absolute favorite Leslie tape is her Walk and Kick (although I haven't tried her Walk and Jog and would like to). It's the standard walking tape with intervals of slightly sissified kickboxing thrown in.

Or if you find Leslie annoying (I do, too, although she's grown on me a little), you might try the George Foreman-Petra Kolber tapes. The workouts are similar to Leslie's (the same very basic, easy-to-follow moves) except a little harder (they usually include some squats and lunges). Best ones: Circuit Walk and Walk and Box.

Which one of Leslie's tapes are you using? I have one of her older ones and use it in the winter when I can't get out. I have one that is really old, she has some lady from weight watchers on it. It drives me crazy because Leslie talks to everyone like they are about 6 years old! I turn the sound off! I was thinking of getting a new one so I was wondering ncluwhat you have and how the quality is.

MICK,
The newest Leslie Sansone DVD I have is: Walk Slim 4 fast Miles! It includessome jogging, and also comes with another DVD a I mile jog. I like it very much.
As ROBIN says, she grows on ya!'
I also have a couple other older ones, Walk Away the Pounds for the shorter walks, etc.
When I don't go to the Y or my weight class, I pop one in and get my "extra-cise" in that way.
Thanks for coming by...

Thanks, ROBIN,
I don't have the other tapes you mentioned, but I'm sure they're good if you recommend them.
I really feel like I've had a good workout with the one I have now, but might try another one later.
Do you know of a good light weight lifting tape or DVD?
Gotta leave in a few minutes for church, so talk later.

We do a semi-regular feature called "I Did It!" on people who lost a bunch of weight or changed their life to be healthy. Most papers probably do something similar (if not, suggest it to them; most of them are looking for ways to involve readers).

As for weightlifting tapes, sorry, Lizabette, I don't know of any to recommend since I don't use them. I use books, magazines, and the trainers and equipment at the gym. Wish I could be of more help ...

Hey, HOL,
You're too sweet for words. I appreciate that you think I deserve some serious :clapclap: atta girl!
but I don't think I will pursue that right now. Thank you, my dear HOL!
I am, of course, very proud of what I've accomplished weight-wise and exercise-wise, but so many others are also seeing the need to become more fit and healthy, just like you!

Thanks, ROBIN. Features like you mentioned are definitely motivating to others...just as I imagine people you work with and your friends find your story very inspiring.
No telling how many people are doing something about it since you've set such a good 'example' for them.

Today's weight resistance class along with the 2-mile walking tape was exhilarating, but felt a little tired so relaxed for 20 minutes on my Chi machine.
It seems to always put me to sleep for a short power nap!
Speaking of books, I came across a book I've had for years, by Callan Pickney, called "Callanetics".
Some moves like yoga and pilates. I may try a few out when I'm able to concentrate on them.
There are also some new DVD's out now with good reviews!
I ordered the book 'Joining the Thin Club". Looking forward to getting it soon. Thanks for the input.

I'd really love to read your review on the book, ROBIN. Any way you can post it on your journal after it has been published??Now, I really can't wait to get it!

Thanks for telling me, MICK. It encourages me to keep on, when I know it's helping others to keep on.
ROBIN and I are almost a year into maintenance...I can hardly believe it, my self! Whohoo! It's unbelievable! Whohoo, again!

Oh, sorry, Lizabette, I didn't actually review it for the paper. They send us a bizillion books for review purposes; we review some and the rest just get either set out on a "free table" or sold with the proceeds going to charity. So this is as much a review as I'm giving it: I thought it had a lot of useful information and a lot of stories I could relate to. It covered people who lost weight on all sorts of plans, plus those who lost weight with surgery. It even addressed those who have lost a significant amount of weight but who aren't at goal yet, or people who would still like to drop another 5 or 10 pounds even though they've reached their goal (um, like me).

It included practical information on nutrition and exercise, and also information about the emotions many of us feel when (or after) losing weight. The joy, the fears, the sense of loss, etc. It had some writing exercises, but also more concrete suggestions like the tank-top thing (speaking of which, it's getting warm enough in my office - and I saw the head of features wearing a sleeveless top today - that I'm thinking of doing the layered tanks at work one day this week).

I don't know what it was exactly, but something seems to have clicked in me when reading it. I feel prettier, thinner, stronger, more confident than I did just a couple of weeks ago. And apparently others are seeing the change, too. I've been dressing better, doing my hair, smiling more. In response, more people are smiling at me, greeting me, holding the door open for me, etc. And now I can't wait for my indoor skydiving!

OK, no more hijacking (but you did ask ...). I expect a full review from YOU after you get the book, too!!

ROBIN and SOJ,
I wanna know about the tank top thing...
I'll try anything, well...
'cept the airplane thing....only when absolutely, positively, unavoidably necessary!!!
