Sounds like a wonderful birhday dinner. Glad you had such a lovely evening and thanks for sharing that you didn't eat the rolls because sometimes I tell myself that I can eat whatever the item may be in 7 months or when ever and it won't be that simple. You are a great example to us of restraint.

Thanks a bunch, BIKI!
It's not that I am trying to be an example of restraint...
it's that I am scared silly of regaining that awful 'weight that did so easily beset me!"
('scuse the little Bible paraphrasing there...!)
I just know ME!

Happy Birthday (belatedly) to your DH!

Your dinner sounds scrumptious and you are so wise to avoid that bread basket and dessert. I never use to have room for dessert, but always ate plenty from the bread basket. :? I guess I looked like I enjoyed the bread basket, too. ;) :D

MARCH 31, 2007 - 131.3#

Thanks, Miss T,
I always felt that bread was my downfall (and cheese), so that's probably why I am so reluctant to eat it.
Actually about the only bread I eat now is Ezekiel bread, which has no flour in it, and is whole grain. Usually one slice a day is my limit.
But today, (Sat) is usually the day we have burgers, and I used the two heels to replace the burger buns. Very good, I must say. 8)

We had some nice rain last night and this morning, but turned off clear this afternoon.
This morning I upped my treadmill exercise, trying to speed it up some and got in 1- 1/2 miles.
Then another 1/2 mile walk/run with the babies after dinner...
Not much by KARLI's and ROBIN's standards.
(I enjoy reading about their exercise schedules, but it wears me out thinking about it!)
But we each have to find our own pace.
I'm blessed to be as physically active and healthy as I am.
I hope you all have a good night tonight and a great day tomorrow.
See you all at ROLL CALL!

APRIL 02, 2007 - 131#

Hard to believe it is already April when flowers are at their most beautiful.
We were disappointed yesterday about seeing the daffodils, azaleas or 'dancing in the tulips' at our botanical gardens.
We couldn't get near the place, it was so crowded. So we turned around and came back home.
We'll try again tomorrow and get an early start on it. It will be several miles of walking on all the paths to see it all...
...the flowers, the glass chapel, the waterfalls, bridges and the lake.

Today was Y day, and that was a nice workout! Just got back from the walk with the babies and a little tired.
Well, my scale was down today to 131#.
It has seesawed each day almost a pound up or down, in spite of the fact that I eat much the same way every day.
Strange.
I may decide to report it only once or twice a week (unless something spectacular happens, hehe!) so as not to be so boring.
It is important to me to weigh each morning anyway, to keep me alert and aware. That way, I have no excuse to get off track.
I'm also careful to write in my food diary each day.
I'm convinced that is what it will take for me to maintain, just as it was during the weight loss phase.
When I quit doing that, I may have reason to worry.
I'll take a shake and a bar with me to sustain me, should I need it. It promises to be a beautiful day here tomorrow.
To anyone who might be looking in, I hope it will be for you too.

Lizabette, even if you don't weigh, we still need our daily 'Lizabette fix' so you'll *have* to check in. ;)

I hope you get a chance to do the garden tour tomorrow, it sounds like it is going to be a lovely place to visit.

Oh thank you, MISS T!
If I can 'fix' anybody, that will be just hunky dunky!
You are doing great, babe. I'm glad you're here on the boards to help moniter me
It wouldn't be the same without you...

Hello, Lizabette!

You have been so welcoming and encouraging in my introduction blog that I wanted to read your journal and get to know you a little better! You are my inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing your journey!

I have realized that my fear of succeeding is really a fear of not being able to maintain success once I get there. I've really appreciated reading about your struggles to maintain. I feel like I can accept now that being thin will never be easy for me, but if you can do it, I can do it! We may always struggle, but it will be worth it!

I was amazed to read that ya'll were missionaries in the Philippines! My folks were missionaries there for 17 years. I never meet anyone with experiences like mine! I can't believe you're here! My brother and I grew up in Asia, a little in Taiwan and Indonesia, but mostly in Dumaguete, Negros Island, in the Visayan Islands of the Philippines. My folks are retired now and live outside Houston, and my brother and I are both in Austin now.

Thank you so much for your faithfulness!

Love from Austin,
Stacey

STACEY, STACEY!
What a great compliment that you would plow your way through my journal.
Wow, you're parents were missionaries to the Philippines for 17 years.
You surely have had an exciting and different life there and in the other areas where you grew up.
I'd surely love to know them and I hope they are doing well now in their retirement years.
We were at Davao City, on the Island of Mindanoa, and really enjoyed working with the lovely Filipinos there ...
beginning and building churches in numerous barrios on the Island.

As I mentioned in my journal we were forced to leave after going on 3 years there, because of extortion/death threats.
Our Bible school and churches there were threatened with bombings and killings and no telling what else. And a danger of us being kidnapped!
Sadly we had to fly to Manila with a suitcase full of pictures and records, and not much else.
We never returned until about 8-9 years later because the threat was still there.
We were greeted by many of the same lovely people, and found the churches we had built still flourishing
where many of our students had taken their place as leaders of the churches. How rewarding!
We were there in early '80's when the country was in great turmoil...of course it still is ...as we still hear of kidnappings, etc.

I can understand your fear of succeeding at losing weight, and that it would be such a struggle to maintain it.
And yes, it will be, but it takes the same resolve to maintain as it does to lose it in the first place. So you can do it, anybody can.
Thank God, it has been over 7 months now and I have maintained under goal all that time.
I have NO intentions of doing otherwise.
Thank you again, STACEY. I will watch your progress. Keep close, and be faithful to what you know to do.
When we think about it, we realize that it is God's perfect will for us to be fit and healthy.

APRIL 3, 2007 - 130.7#

After reading STACEY's post, I did something I hadn't done before.
I went back at the beginning of my journal and began reading...I only got through page 5!
It's a strange feeling to re-read words and thoughts written during different phases of our lives.
Some things might be left unsaid if more thought had gone into the process,
but actually it could be a good thing, I think, to say what one feels at any given time. At least for the person saying it.
It takes a little courage to put it all out there for 'all the world to see'!
We try to be as honest in our remarks as possible and yet not too honest, perhaps, where somebody could be offended.
It is easier, however, because we know we will never actually meet those who will be reading it.
I plan to go back to page 6 and try to finish reading my journal.
I hope I find it interesting...

Today was good. The scale was nice to me. It told me I weighed 130.7.
I was a bit surprised since my pattern lately has been down one day and up the next.
Anyway, DH and I packed us a little snack bag, donned walking shoes, and took off for the Botanical Gardens.
We weren't dissappointed at all. The azaleas, daffodils and tulips were grand and glorious.
Other plant life in their natural beauty also graced the paths we wandered.
I said in another post that we must have walked 2-3 miles in our three hour jaunt.
So no treadmill for me today. The babies did insist on their walk/run and we obeyed.
I have to admit, I was one tired cookie when we got home.
But how would I have felt if I had not gotten rid of 60+ pounds of flab off my 5'1" frame.
Yeah, it was a really good day.

Yeah, thanks, Miss T!
I was a whole ounce lower this morning at 130.6!
I'll check in with my journal later today, when I have something else to say.
Meantime this is Y day, and maybe a little shopping.
Pretty day to do it!
Now you be good to yourself today!
