Oh no! That's horrible, Lizabette!
Of course you were attached to mama duck ~
I was attached just from your description of her.
I know, circle of life and all that...it's still sad.

Dear dear Itsy and Bill ~

I am so very sorry to hear about the Duckster and babies.
The circle of life is filled with joy and sorrow both; I can understand your dismay upon finding such a terrible scene.

We’ll have to send CSI Hot Springs to discover the identity of the intruder and  killer.

We had a lovely backyard pond at our other home, hand-designed and built by Unca – it was a paradise. One day my DH came home to discover a pterodactyl-like bird wading in the shallow end gulping 20 inch koi…that dang ol’ Blue Heron scarfed Cali Koi without a second thought. God’s creatures do what they were created to do; it hurts our hearts ‘tho.

You and Bill have so many people, critters and flowers that you nurture.

Have a grand time celebrating the graduate grandkids.

Sending a cyber  hug to you.

MAY 16, 2007 - 130.6 - Is there such a thing as Maintenance Plateau?

Thank you, TEE, HB, SOJI, & NANCY, all for understanding what might seem silly to some, but so sorrowful to others.
But now it's over and the world still stands!
So, CSI SOJI, maybe you can figure out what really happened...I suppose you'll expect some big fee!

Have such a busy week coming up with graduations, recitals, company and still try to keep up with regular scheduling activities.
Got a nice NSV at the beauty shop this morning...I was told that it looked like I was still losing weight.
I 'splained that it was probably the extra-cises that I was doing. You know, firming up and all!
But I accepted it with all the new found M/F grace and poise that I could muster.
But no fooling, I do seem to be tightening up everywhere.
Yesterday was my Strong Women session. This morning, I tried out a new at-home walking tape for some variety.
I think that the more variety the more we can stick with it before boredom sets in. Right?
Tomorrow is my annual physical (in the middle of all this!) and Joe-boy's graduation.
Thank you all again. You're the best!

So sorry about the ducks, Lizabette. As the owner of a bunny- and squirrel-killer (and probably ducks if she could get her paws on any), I can sympathize. I know it's part of life and animal instinct and all that, but it's still sad.

Thanks a lot, ROBIN. Your bunny would have a hey-day around here...there's are squirrels on every tree and branch, it seems.
Allie and Meg get lots of exercise chasing them and any other moving critter around, but they're too fast for them
I haven't been very diligent about reading all the journals, but I did catch up on the last few pages of yours..
You seem to have your maintenance and weight under control after all this time. I haven't gotten brave enough to eat ribs yet!
I have leveled off at about 130 - 131 for awhile now.
I am constantly told that I shouldn't lose any more, but I'm just taking it as it comes.
I really feel for you about your JDG situation. I know you don't want to hurt anyone, and that is sweet of you.
But I know you will do what is right for you, when the time is right!
WTG about everything!

I could not go to bed tonight Lizabette without coming over to let you know how very very sorry i am about your little babies and their mama:+( I "truly" understand how attached you became to them...such an awful thing to have happened. Hopefully the circle of life will someday afford you another chance to be the loving guardian to another innocent little duckling family..they need mommies just like you:+)

Thank you so much, CHINA. So sweet of you to come on and post your encouraging words.
You are doing really great, girl. Just a hop and a jump to goal, almost there with only 11+ pounds to go.
Don't get discouraged if your loss slows a bit near goal...you'll be so happy you didn't give up!

Oh Lizabette - that is so awful. When I come to your journal I am always looking forward to hearing about the mama duck and if her ducklings had hatched. I am truly sorry.

But I also wanted to let you know that you and your husband are beautiful together. What a lovely picture. I hope you have many many more wonderful happy years together.

Thank you, SUZYQ, dear, for the understanding and the good wishes for DH and me.
But sad to say, we have learned that our days here on earth are numbered.
Last night as we celebrated Joe-boy's graduation, his little sister was showing some envying over his nice gifts of money, new laptop, and other good stuff for college life.
Her mom said, "Don't worry Evvy, you'll be graduating yourself in seven years."
She whined, "Yeah, but they'll all be dead by then!"
So there you have it. Now we know!

Yesterday my doctor's visit for my annual physical went well. Cholesterol is a little above normal but balanced out with my HDL GOOD!
Odd, but my usually low BP was up a little higher, but she explained that it hadn't come down yet because of my weight-resistance training class that morning. Didn't know that!
My weight of course pleased her . Fully dressed it was still below my original goal of 135. (134.5#)
BUT- and this is unbelievable. I am now 5'- 3/4" tall. I asked if she couldn't add just 1/4" more. Cruelly, she refused.
I won't go into all the other 'stuff', but suffice to say, everything else is fine.
Ready to go to the Y this morning for water aerobics...
...to help get me through my last 7 years.

Ya'll stay cool and compliant and your future will be bright!!

7 years, huh? LOL kids are so funny (and clueless) when it comes to age and time passing. I remember being 15 or so and thinking why did anyone who was 26 buy anything new? They were going to die soon (of old age) and wouldn't get much use out of it............amazing thought process (or lack of, in my case!)

Good for you on the great check up (it does sound like it was great).
