AUG. 16, 2007 - 130.5# :-P

Glad to see you MICKEY, I check you out to see how you're doing, and see you are doing fine.
You are so right, it is scary to think that the weight could come back on just like the WW woman.
But there is a solution...we don't have to be a statistic, as long as we stay accountable to ourselves and others, and do what it takes to keep it off!
YAY for me, I will be a one-year maintainer in two weeks. (Aug. 31)
I carefully try to stay under goal---it feels more comfortable than teetering on the edge!
As DH and I talked yesterday about the move...we're not sure we could be doing this a year or two from now. (At our age, I hasten to add.)
If you would have seen his barn-workshop you would think packrat!
And I am no better with my doll collection, plate collections, dish set collections, clothes, shoes, purses, and more of the same.
A friend told me it is good for everyone to move every year or so to get rid of all the stuff we collect.
Oughta be a law against packratting!
Anyway, you keep up the great work and don't worry about gaining your weight back if you work at maintaining as diligently as you do losing.
Add as much exercise as you need and you'll feel good!
That's the way it is, angel girl...that's just the way it is.

Hi Lizabette,

I completely agree with you about banning packratting :) After having to pack up my mom's house and then move myself, I am dumbfounded by the amount of stuff we accumulate. I promised myself that I will not collect anything from now on - including clothes and accessories. Let's see if that works!

Hope you're having a great day :)

Good morning Lizabette! You are always so upbeat and cheerful it is a pleasure to read your journal. It is also very encouraging to see how successful you are at maintaining your losses.

I am not far behind you in age and I have started trying to cut down the amount of "stuff" I have because I keep thinking what a job it would be for my girls if something would happen to me! I prefer to sort my stuff now than to think of them going through it all and saying, "What the heck was she keeping this for?" LOL

I don't remember being such a packrat when the kids were home but maybe I just started trying to fill up my empty nest with stuff?? Ya think?

It is funny about how we just get so much "stuff". 11 years ago our home burned down (pets survived and no one hurt) But what struck me was how it was just stuff, but of course now we have once again managed to acquire that much stuff and more! I do try to go through closets once a year in the dead of winter, but the garage and attic...well that's another story! I collect antique tea pots and can never pass up a good yarn sale! Wait, then there is the shoe thing...well that's a story for another time!

You ladies are reminding me of my mom. I always tease her and say that when she dies we are just going to have a giant yard sale, except I won't even bother to cart the stuff outside. I'll just let everyone come in and pick what they want! :)

Mickey - some days I think it would be good to be forced to start over from scratch but I would be devastated to lose all my pictures. I think that and a few family heirlooms are the only things I have that can't be replaced.

Did you lose your pictures?

LOL Tracy - maybe that is because you are the same age as my youngest daughter so I am probably near your mom's age! Must be our generation. ;)

p.s. I will pass on your idea to my daughters! They will probably like it!

Whoohoo, QUEENIE, TRACE, HOPE & MICKEY. Thank you all for looking in on me.
Looks like we are all pretty much packrats at heart! 8) So it does us good to occasionally go through our things and donate.
Someone has said that if we haven't used or worn something for a year or more, then we should do away with it.
I did some things like that or if I had duplicates of one thing, I put that in a donate box.
And MICKEY, if something did destroy our home, I imagine we could live just as well without the stuff we lost.
Things are really not that important, are they?
QUEENIE, love, I was executrix of my mom's will when she died some years ago.
She had marked the things she wanted us kids to have, but better still, she had given me her precious antique doll collection and some wall plates way before she died.
That really meant a lot more to me.
So HOPE, how about if we just go ahead and let our kids have what they want now, instead of waiting until we're gone.
I'm with you, TRACE, just do the giant yard sale for me and don't look back!
Like I said, nothing is that important.
BUT, I will say that I have done away with all my BIG clothes as I got smaller...I don't even want them around to remind me of my former fat self!
Today, amidst the packing, etc. I took time to do a two mile tape. But somehow I may be a little low on my steps...only about 9,000 so far.
But I may make 10,000 before going to beddy bye!
Thanks again, guys. You all rock!

AUG. 17, 2007 - 130.8# :-P
Things to do and places to go.
Today is closing on our new home---then a 3-day wait to finalize next week.
Then the big move on 27th, 28th...so we're getting there.

Maintenance is also moving along okay.
I am living proof that the stress of moving does not have to detour a weight loss or maintenance program!
One solution is to stay accountable!
I'm thinking that is maybe of primary importance in either case.
From what I'm reading here, most of you are doing just that!
WTG!

I fit in a one mile jogging tape in my busy schedule today.
Haven't quite hit 10,000 steps today, but it all balances out!

AUG. 18, 2007 - 132.7# :(

Now we all know I couldn't have gained two pounds since yesterday...
I do realize that I haven't been drinking enough water, with all the running around I've been doing so I'm going to definitely do something about that today.
Drink more water!!!
Oh, and I have a confession to make (well, it was more like a mistake than a sin).
I now know that my 18,000 steps a few days ago was a combination of two days. (I forgot to reset my pedometer  )
Whatever, it still wasn't bad for two days.
Enough of that.
Today is another day, and my projects are pretty well mapped out.
My sewing room, with materials, threads, yarns, crafts, etc. etc. are going to be packed by ME.
No one else would know what I want/need to take, give up or what.
Some of you would probably understand that those things are sacred and I do have the space at our new home to have them, so...
As soon as I leave this very important posting task, drink some more water, I'm heading there.
Then there's the rest of our things in the office to finish packing.
Send all the good thoughts and some of that great ketosis energy my way. I'm serious!

Good morning Lizabette - I totally understand about your sewing materials and supplies being sacred! I would want to pack those things myself too.

Here's hoping you have a good day, drink lots of water and don't miss mealtime and let's call on the whoosh fairy to visit you tonight!

Oh Liz, I do understand about the sewing stuff. I'm only now starting to recover from an incident that happened while I was away babysitting. Mark's dog got into my knitting bag and thank goodness she didn't eat any of the yarn, but she did eat the leather braided strap. It was a new bag and very chic.......needless to say I'm not speaking to the dog.....and might not ever again. You don't mess with my knitting and get away with it!

Oh, and I need to add.....I'm barely speaking to Mark because he doesn't apologize for his precious puppy. "She doesn't know any better"......grrrrrrrrrrr :x
