Little tip for those who work around a computer all day...

Postby BamaBabe » July 16th, 2006, 11:47 am

Hiya all! :exercise:

Wasn't sure if this was the right place for a "tip", but here goes anyway...

I have a busy counseling practice & run several related websites, AND I have four children at home on summer break right now, so I have to think WAAAAY too much, ALL the time... I have to multi-task from the moment I get up in the AM until I finally get to go to bed. It's exhausting!! For me to make the Medifast program "goof-proof", I had to build into it something that relieved me from having to "think" about that, too...

I'm sure I'm not the only one to ever think of this, but I wanted to share it anyway, because it's given me almost a week now of not having to waste one brain cell on Medifast, except for "Hmmm... what packet do I want to take right now?"

If you use Outlook, or some other program that allows you to schedule events and set alarms, just go thru one week on your calendar, set events for 7, 10, 1, 4, 6 & 9 (or whatever your replacement schedule), recurring daily, forever. If you are at home for some of the times in your schedule, and at work for other times in your schedule, just set up home & office alerts accordingly.

I set my alert for 3 minutes prior to "shake-it time", and voila! A bell goes off & I go make my shake. I'm like a Pavlovian dog at this point, I hear a bell & I wanna shake  BUT, I haven't missed one meal & haven't wasted a second obsessing about the time... 8)

Just thought I'd throw that out there - may help someone!! :D

I use the bells in school as my reminders...Classes are 90 minutes, so I can kind of set a schedule by that. SOmetimes, I lock the door for 2 minutes between classes jsut to sit down for a minute and have a bar or some oatmeal..not enough time for a shake, but I can certainly have some oatmeal cookies and water.
Don't really care as long as everything's better than yesterday was...

I should do that on busy days. I'm usually very good about getting my meals in on time, but there have been times I've gotten busy and forgot to eat until later.

Body Alarm

Postby alohacate » July 18th, 2006, 10:41 am

I must be the only one who is still hungry? My body "alarm" goes off loudly when it is time to eat....It screams to be fed...... I long for the day when I can set my computer, cell phone, etc!!! (**chewing on pencil**) I still can't decide if it is "true" hunger or if I am just struggling with my "mental" addiction to food.

I'm with Dede. Many times I have to remind myself to eat because I'm not hungry. I have my reminders set-up in Outlook and it works like a dream!!

I am in my 13th week of Medifast and have yet to "forget" to eat. My tummy tells me when it has been a couple hours. I used to be ravenous, and it is much better now, easier to deal with. But Alohacate, I am with you, I don't need a reminder to eat!
