Great goals Lisa. Just remember that as you begin to exercise, your body will let you know that it wants more fuel. Especially if you are doing cardio and weight training. You may actually need an extra medimeal as your body adjusts to those changes.

Food (no pun inteneded.... well, maybe) for thought.

Thanks, Mike! I was thinking I might need to add another supplement once I begin exercising intensely on a regular basis. But I think that might be a ways away. I will be starting out *very* slowly because I am so out of shape right now.

Thank you for the suggestions and encouragement!!!

Left you a note on your journal page, KM. I believe it is possible to have it off in 8 months and am VERY excited at the prospect!!!! It feels so good to be excited about weight loss after feeling so hopeless for so long.

This week's weight loss turned out to be 6.5 pounds. .5 pounds away from 20# club. I can't wait to pass 20 pounds and am feeling *very* motivated!!

Another goal of mine...

To run in the annual 10K race, the Bolder Boulder, on May 26, 2008.

I've been wanting to run this for the last two years, but have been too busy getting fat. Pretty much the whole town takes part and many dress up in goofy outfits for the race. It looks like so much fun and it will be great to be a part of next year.

OH, Lisa!! Way too fun!! 10K used to be my best event (walking, though -- not running) We have a Bay-to-Breakers here where people dress goofy and run in teams, etc., but a whole marathon and that's too long for me yet...and it's usually hot (well, compared to Bay Area standards).

So, let's do this! Let's both get to 10K distance by May 26, 2008. When I was training before, my trainer always had me practice at least one mile longer than the actual race so I wouldn't be dead when I crossed the finish line -- just passing along info.

Go get 'em!!
Here's to our mutual success! :buddies: --Diana

By the way.... we know a Medifaster out your way. In Aurora. We had a chance to meet with her when we were back there in July.

Keep up the great work, and go for the 10K.

I fell off program this evening. I ate two bars in addition to my 5&1. It was not a binge, and I was not craving the bars. What happened was that I was severely anxious and the feeling would not pass. I stuck with the feeling for at least 4 or 5 hours before I overate, and in that time I tried various breathing techniques, visualization, change of venue, etc. but nothing worked. I wanted a drink to calm me down, but I chose not to. I am not on any meds to help curb the anxiety. The only thing I had left was food. And I knew that was not the answer, but honestly I was just looking for a little bit of temporary relief.

So, tomorrow is another day.

 Lisa I know this can be so discouraging. I've been there.
Just continue on...that's all we can do when these things happen. Sounds like you are working the tools for managing the anxiety...good for you. You are doing great so far. Keep up the good work girl. On to tomorrow...march forward. ;)

Thanks, Elizabeth. :)

I had been on anti-depressants for the last year with Klonopin as a PRN. But I haven't taken Klonopin since January and I went off my anti-depressants a month and a half ago (because it had caused me to gain weight and now that I had decided to lose the weight I did not want the AD"s interfering). So, for the last month I have been very down and trying everything I can to manage my anxiety, but nothing seems to be working. I placed a call in today with my meds doc, so hopefully I will have a Klonopin refill to take as needed when the anxiety strikes. I do *not* want to use food to alleviate my anxiety. It just works against me in the long run.

I am on Klonopin too and prefer it to the other benzos because although it takes a bit longer to work, it hangs around a little longer.

Yeah, Klonopin is my benzo of choice if I have to take one. It doesn't make me feel dopey like some of them, it just takes the edge off. I hate depending on a substance to regulate me, but it beats using food. And hopefully if I go back on Klonopin it will only be temporary and used only when needed.

(I have personal issues with taking meds and I do not judge anyone else for using them regularly.) :D

Hi Lisa ~
I've been away from the boards for a while
and have yet to meet you. Hello!

I just wanted to respond to this statement that you made.
We ALL depend on substances to regulate us. Our brains
and bodies fabricate hormones and insulin and serotonin
(etc) for some of us--and the pharmaceutical companies
do it for the rest of us. That's the only difference.
Perhaps if you thought of it in a different manner you wouldn't
have the personal issues of which you spoke...?

Anyway, good luck on your MF journey ~ and I'll "see" you around.
