I cannot believe I’ve been doing this for 53 days and I’m nowhere near the point of wanting to quit! I am one week away from my 2 month anniversary, which also happens to the weekend of the Prince vs. Michael Jackson party. It’ll be interesting to see where my weight/inches are at that time. I’ve already picked out the “dream jeans” I want to get into for the July 22nd Prince vs. MJ party but I’m not sure what I’ll wear to the one on the 14th (yes, there are 2 this month! Yay!!) Maybe a dress but we’ll see…

It’s the 4th of July and it’s my sister’s (who also happens to be my best friend) birthday. Last night her BF surprised her at her bday party and proposed to her. It’s moments like this that seem to be challenging. I wish I was there and not hundreds of miles away. But I try to look on the bright side. At least with MF, I’m not subject to emotional eating (cuz I sure would be eating my sadness away right now) and the great thing is, thanks to MF, I will be able to get to goal in time to get in a stunning bridesmaids dress! Now, I just have to get the money to buy the darn thing! LOL

It’s funny how MF has become such a major part of my life. One of my greatest frenz here in Cali (who is truly my heart away from home) came over for dinner on Sat night and she paid me such a nice NSV compliment. I was going upstairs to get something for her and she asked, “hey kim, where did ur butt go?!?” now don’t get me wrong, I still have much junk in the trunk, just not as much and it’s so wonderful when your loved ones notice. She is very excited about the plan and she wants to do it too. i told her to take the time to get mentally prepared cuz she is going to need to be ready for the results. She’s already one of the most beautiful women that I know and MF is going to change her life, physically and mentally. And if she is prone to get as hyper as I have, then watch out now! I’m so excited that people are taking notice of my progress and want to jump on the bandwagon and get their health in order. Now I know how Dede must feel.

Well, the nice thing about being in a new state on a major BBQ holiday is that you’re not invited to hella bbqs and surrounded with temptation. So I guess I’ll try to unpack my house a lil more today…

8:00am

Well, it’s Wednesday and I made it through the holiday weekend. I’ve decided that the best way for me to post to my journal is to write it up on the train ride to work and then post it to the forum later. We’ll see how that works out.

Yesterday wasn’t all so bad but I did have a lil bit of a slip up. My in-laws decided to BBQ so my hubby and I went over there to get our grub on. I ended up going overboard with the meat. I had ribs (yes I did) but without sauce and then I had ¼ of a sirloin burger (again without sauce and then ¼ of a salmon burger (u KNOW I love my salmon!). With that, I had salad but I also ended up having a tablespoon of potato salad. So, I don’t think I did so bad for a BBQ. At least I did decline the yummy looking lemon pound cake. Funny thing is, that was just enough of a taste and I didn’t feel like overdoing it. This is new to me b/c any other time I’ve been on a diet, just a “taste” was enough to push me over the edge. I’d always figure, well I blew it so I might as well go all out. Not this time. With MF I don’t even feel like I’m missing out that much. I’d just like a taste every now and then. That’s why I think I’m actually gonna be able to get through transistion and maintenance pretty easy when I get there. Thank goodness cuz that was a very big worry for me.

But the night ended pretty decent cuz after my L&G I was trying to decide if I felt guilty or not and then I had the bright idea to get on the scale and if I went up past last week’s weigh in, I’d probably feel guilty (yeah I know, getting on the scale right after eating…such torture). But I got on the scale and I’m happy to report that even right after eating, I was down a whole pound! So the way I figure it, the food must’ve been around 2 lbs that I just put in my body so I’m roughly about 2-3 lbs down from last week. I know that my logic seems silly, but hey, it works for me!

5:30pm

Back on train…didn’t post earlier cuz our network was down all day! I’ll post when I get home. So today was a lil rough. I kept getting hungry in under 2 hours. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with that potato salad I had yesterday or what??? Geez, it took all my might to make it thru the day. I had my L&G for lunch today so tonight isn’t going to be so thrilling since I look forward to my L&G at night. I have to pack for my trip to Seattle (YAY!) when I get home. I’m hoping that with my sister’s bday and her new engagement, I don’t get so tempted that I fall off of the wagon. I’m going to have to pray for strength on that one before I leave. But the great thing is that I have a very supportive family that they might not let me fall off the wagon.

I won’t be in town for my weigh in tomorrow (I’ll be on a flight) so I have to make the crucial decision of whether to weigh in tonight, a night early, or just forego it and do it when I get back. I haven’t made a decision yet but I’ll figure it out. Well, this is turning out to be a super long entry since I have time on the train to do this. I’ve got about 6.5 hours left before bedtime and only 2 more supplements to go so let’s hope I can get these last two to last more than 2 hours each (either that or I’mma hafta go to bed early!).

Hey Kim,

I love those long journal entries! (entry's?? hmmm... or is that even a word...lol)

Sounds like you did great at the BBQ. It's nice to be able to go and eat something rather than feeling like you can't go because you don't want to be tempted.

Like Dede, I'm sure you will do great on your trip. They are going to be OOOooooo and Awwwwing over you and how wonderful you look!

Yeah I looked for you online yesterday and I was like...where's Kim?? That's suxs that your internet was down, I'm sure it a made for a longer day and perhaps the reason why you were more hungry than usual. Didn't you have any soy chips available? ;) ;)

Do you see how early I am typing this?? I hear the baby so I'm gonna go...look forward to hearing from you when you get back and we can hook up. Diana can't wait to meet you too! She learned so much at the confrence and has been sharing lot's of stuff with me. Shhhh...I'm thinking about becoming a health advisor. Shhh.... :D

Oh did you tell hubby we weren't so scary so that next time he can join us? hehehehe...

Be Safe!

Day 55, 8:00am

Okay, it’s Thursday and it’s a new day for me. Let’s just say that the past 2 days haven’t been the most compliant days for a sista. For that reason, I decided to forego getting on the scale last night and I’ll just take the 1 lb loss that I was at on Tuesday. I know, I suck, but it’s what is going to work for me. I leave for Seattle tonite and I’ve packed up all off my supplements for the trip. This is the longest I will have been away from home on MF and my luggage is full of lil baggies. LOL…between those baggies and the big bottle of Crown that I’m toting with me for this weekend’s party (none for me of course) I hope I don’t get any strange stares at the airport. So, I guess I’ve given the pep talk to others plenty of times so now it’s time to give it back to myself. Yes, I did slip a bit but it’s never too late to get back into compliancy (is that even a word?!?!). And today is that day. I have to stick with it and get it together while I’m on the road cuz I looked at my before pics and then my “dream jeans” and going back to where I was 55 days ago is not an option. I’m a sista on a mission and I’m gonna get there!! Besides, the Prince vs. Michael party is 17 days away and I HAVE to get into those jeans.

The good news is that I don’t feel all that bad and I even packed some workout clothes for my trip. I plan to go to step aerobics with my old “gym posse” so that should be a nice boost that I could use. Tomorrow is my anniversary and it will probably be the first time I won’t celebrate with some sort of chocolaty dessert. But better than that, for the first time in a while, I’ll be celebrating with a waist! Hey now! I’ll take that over a piece of Cheesecake Factory Godiva Cheesecake any day. Besides, I can have a bit of cheesecake for my birthday.

Well, not much to report this morning so I’ll just keep on keeping on…

P.S. Check me out, i'm no longer a "regular member", i'm no trusted! :D

Written Monday, July 10, 2006 while flying home:

59th day on MF, 10:21pm (on the plane, somewhere over Oregon)

Well, the end of another long weekend and I’m already sad to be leaving my peeps in Seattle. At least I was able to enjoy four days off with them. And I was pretty compliant most of the time during my trip (yes, MOST, c’mon now, I was on vacation after all). Friday and Saturday I was very compliant, with the exception of my weekend splurge of soy crisps (I have come to grips that that is my new weekend vice). MF actually made most of the weekend pretty easy for me. I didn’t have a lot of time to eat, much less cook, so the shakes and bars came in so handy. Yesterday I went to Red Robin with my family and frenz and that made for a non-compliant L&G. As good as my intentions were, I ended up having one of my all time favorite dishes there. Yes, the crispy chicken salad….and I did do Ranch dressing (but I did have it on the side and did the fork dip). It was off the hook and worth it so I can’t say I feel a world of guilt over it.

Today was probably my most non-compliant day of the trip. I had my L&G for lunch at Ruby Tuesday’s. Had the petite sirloin with steamed broccoli (even asked them to hold the buttery sauce) and a very small (microscopic size for a salad) Caesar salad. (no croutons, fork dipped the dressing on the side). Not bad, I know, but that was at 3pm. Well, later that night before my flight, I got a call from 2 of my oldest frenz who wanted to meet up at Red Robin (fyi, Red Robin is one of favorite places to grab a bite to eat). No harm, I figured I’d just take in a shake and let them eat what they wanted. Well, one of my frenz ordered the crispy chicken salad and I had to follow suit. So yes, I had 2 L&Gs today (does that 2nd one really qualify as a L&G?!?!!). Because I ate so much, I decided to adjust the # of supplements I take today just cuz I can’t bear the thought of the caloric overload. I know that might not be the best thing to do but I’m not tripping about it.

I mean, hey, I had a wonderful time this weekend and I didn’t do so bad in the whole scheme of things. Besides, I had a weekend FULL of NSVs! The ones that I can remember off the top of my head right now are:

1. While packing for my trip, I came across a pair of really cute black capris that I used to fit. I thought “what the heck? I’m gonna try them on” I did, and they fit!
2. When I got on the plane Thursday night, I was able to get in my seat and slide the armrest down without “crunching” the heck outta my thigh! That was a huge NSV for me.
3. Then I put on my seatbelt and instead of having to let it out to the largest length, I actually had to tighten it, leaving about 5 inches of slack. I travel so much and this NSVactually made me misty-eyed.
4. My sister’s (who is also my best friend) reaction when we landed in Seattle. Her look of approval was enough to qualify as an NSV.

I had one other pretty big victory but it was a scale victory and it still needs to be confirmed. When I got to Seattle, I got on my sister’s scale and it said that I was at 265 which seemed pretty accurate (that would be 39.5 lbs down). If her scale is accurate, then I am now officially in the 40# club cuz today I got on it and it said 263lbs (that would bring the total to 41.5lbs). Since it is not my regular scale and I know how off calibration scales can be, I’m not officially celebrating just yet. Because of the 2 fried chicken salads, I may just wait until Wednesday or Thursday to do my weigh in on my in-laws scale to see where I’m at. I’m not too worried tho cuz I feel great and my clothes are looking better and better on me each day. Besides, this week I’ll be without hubby so that should make it easier to be 100% compliant. He comes home in 6 days so I’m going to challenge myself to make a difference this week so that he can notice something new has changed on me when he gets home.

I cannot believe that tomorrow will actually be 60 days on this plan. I never would’ve imagined that I would’ve stuck with it so long. I’m very excited because I’m now at the point that people are really noticing my losses and are asking that famous question, “what are u doing to lose the weight?” I even have 2 friends that I think are going to give the plan a try within the next couple of weeks.

Well, I’m extremely exhausted as a result of having such a great weekend so I need to try to nap for the last hour of this flight. I’ll actually post this either tonite when I get home (not likely tho) or tomorrow. Here’s to a great start of my third month on this MF plan….gotta keep keeping on…

Day 60, 8:15am (written on the train on my morning commute)

Well, I made it to day 60 on this program. I’m feeling pretty good this morning, even after the minor slip ups this weekend (hey, in my mind they are minor). I didn’t wake up starving this morning which is a very good sign because on past diets I would wake up absolutely starving after a few days of slipping up. But then again, MF isn’t like other diets. Thank goodness for that! I can really feel the inches coming off but I’m feeling a bit “soft” (for lack of a better word). I really need to get back into the gym and start doing some weight training so that as the weight comes off, the muscles underneath will be somewhat defined. Also, I need to build up the muscle so that my body continues burning fat at a better pace, even when I’m sleeping. Life has just been so crazy that I haven’t been able to work out. But tonight, it’s a priority to get to the gym.

I’ve been experiencing a bit of heartburn lately. Don’t really know what that’s all about or if others are experiencing the same thing. I’m not stressing because every once in a while I suffer from bouts of heartburn for a couple of weeks and then it just goes away. I’m just not sure if MF has anything to do with this latest onset. I just hope it passes pretty quickly this time.

I know it’ll be a busy day today catching up on all the weekend posts and what not. I do miss my MF family and can’t wait to get back into touch with them. Hmmm….i wonder how Tony and Sharon’s weigh in went yesterday? My girlfriend that picked me up from the airport told me that she has been in back and forth contact with Dede and she is so excited about starting the plan. I can’t wait for her to join me on this journey and I know that if she has Dede in her ear, she will be motivated to start the plan TODAY! Yay! Well, kind of a dull day and not much to write on the train ride. Still kinda tired from taking such a late flight last night so I’m gonna wrap this up and relax for the rest of the train ride.

Kim, I'm so happy your back! Missed you, as you already know.

It sounds like you did great on your diet while being away. After all you had salad, not a burger and fries! That's a big step right? No dessert? hehe

I can't wait to hear about your weigh in. 40# club here you come! #40 in 2 months, don't ya think that's just insain?!?!?!

That proves it pays to stay on the program. Your inspiration to me Kimmie!

Did you see I stole the ticker I made for you? lol I was wanting a short term goal ticker and that was made up, so I just grabbed it and changed the numbers.

Here's to me making my goal!
