DAY 84

This is the beginning of day 84. I am down 3.3 for the week (yay me!). I started my exercise thing with OWTO and Chynna two weeks ago but lots of things happened. OWTO discovered that exercising caused her weightloss to slow DRASTICALLY and Chynna seems to have disappeared for a moment. So i was left to exercise all by myself! its not that they were actually here doing it with me but, as many of you can tell, i am motivated by competition. I need to learn to compete with my own demons then maybe i could get more exercise in. So for this week, i only got one day of exercise in. Actually, I had bad sinus headaches until mid week, then life just took over. Work has been extremely stressful, budgets, privatization threats, etc. Thursday and Friday i was EXHAUSTED (mentally and physically). So technically, the only exercise i got in was the day i tripped up the stairs and yesterday.

I was so proud of myself yesterday in realizing how much i have changed. I had a few errands to run (gas, Walmart, Grocery Store). Walmart and Acme are in the same strip center (but opposite sides). When i got to Walmart, I found the perfect parking spot, and as i turned my blinker on I thought to myself..."Self, you have not really gotten any TRUE exercise in this week, go park at the end of the parking lot and speed walk to the store. So that's what i did. I went to the farthest spot there was (of course there were plenty of them), parked and took a wonderful speed walk into the store. When i was done, i did the same back to my car. I put my bags in then decided "hey, why DRIVE to Acme when you can take advantage and walk to/from Acme". I only had a couple of things to pick up so it would be no more than 2 bags. Besides, the thought of having to walk all the way back with the bags would prevent me from picking up things i didnt really need. So that's what i did. The extra walking amounted to an additional1579 steps of speed walking. Yes, i counted. This was only the acme trip, i didn't think of counting when going to/from Walmart. Afterwards, i felt really good. I know it doesn't compare to some of the things that you guys do but it was definitely an improvement on what had been on my exercise menu for the week. I came home, cooked my L&G ( i will write about that in the LEAN CUISINE ~ it was delicious) and got some housework done.

Now, on to the facts...as of this morning, i am sitting at 205.1 a total of 35.5lbs lost at the end of week 13. There are soooo many things to be happy for:

1. I have a BMI of 29.85, which officially makes me overweight. Can you believe it? I am not considered obese anymore! I know everyone here can understand the significance of that. I doesn't mean as much to the general public.

2. I am only 5.2lbs away from ONEDERLAND!
3. I feel so much pride thinking of the choices that i make and actually stick to.
4. I feel better about my overall self-image.
5. I have a strong MF support system that is always there when i need them.

There are so many things, too many to list right now. I am sitting here beaming as i type. My weightloss goal itself, is a destination but the act of getting it off, keeping it off and maintaining what i deem "the perfect me" is a journey. It involves more than just losing another 50lbs. I am on my way and it feels good. Anyhoo, here are my numbers:

End lbs lost
wk 1 -5.8
wk 2 -6.5
wk 3 -0.7
wk 4 -0.8
wk 5 -2.5
wk 6 -3.4
wk 7 -2.8
wk 8 -2.8
wk 9 -3.5
wk 10 -0.1
wk 11 -3.3
wk 12 -3.3

My inches seem to be coming off a little slower. I have lost a total of 15.5 inches. Mostly in boobs(3.25), waist (3.0), and hips (3.0). Height has something to do with it. That's probably why it takes so long for me to see weight loss because the lost inches have such a large area to spread over. I guess if i were to measure every square inch of my torso, i would see a larger difference.  But oh, well, i am happy with my results so far and i keep right on going. I write all of this because you never know when someone will read and say "hey that sounds like me!". They might have just been at that breaking point and reading somewhere on this forum might give them the strength to hold on, or try something a little different. So after you are finished reading this, GO HAVE A GLASS OF WATER!

Great work! I didn't realize you were so close to ONEDERLAND. That is still my very favorite Medifast moment. I am so happy for you!!! :) I cranked up that song "'Your Body is a Wonderland" and danced and sang for about 30 minutes around the living room!

I am not techinally supposed to be exercising for another 2 weeks, but truth is, mentally, emotionally, I need it. So, if you are looking for someone to "compete" with, I'm your girl.. I need someone to be accountable to anyways. So, let me know. I am really just doing 10-15mins on the bike per day (I measure by calories burned, not by distance or time).

Congrats on nearing onederland, AND hitting the overweight BMI.. that is fantastic!

Erica, I remember hitting Onederland and also hitting the magic number where I was in the overweight area of the BMI chart instead of obese. Both milestones were great cause for celebration in my mind so I congratulate you with a huge smile on my face and joy for your accomplishments!

Hey there Erica -- we all talk so much about negative self-talk on MMT so I was happy to see that you are starting to have starting some positive self-talk. Good for you!!!! Do you have a pedometer? You might be suprised at all the exercise to add to your day just doing little things like parking in the "north 40" of the parking lots. I just got a handicap placard for my car, but I only plan on using it while I am one legged if ya know what I mean.

Anyway, I am proud of you!!! Also, I send out your quilt fabric sample. I put it in the mail yesterday so it went out today. Let me know what you think. I can't wait to get started on that.

Blessings

kelly, YOU'RE ON!!! What are your average calories that you burn daily? I am still sticking to my every other day routine with any day in between being a bonus. It's all about having someone to be accountable to, for me too. I think i am going to keep trying to switch up my exercise, not just stick to the walking dvd. Glad to have another exercising buddy!

I started with 100 calories a day (7-8 mins) on the recumbent bike; today I did 125 and I'll try to keep that up all week. I am also starting the full fast today so I need to take it really slow with the exercise. I think 125 calories will be my limit for a while, but I do it daily.

I could do more, I'm sure if I pushed I could hit 300-350, but the full fast gives only 600ish calories a day.

So let me know your on/off days and we'll get going! :)

Hello again, this is not meant to hijack, but I wanted to remind Kelly to make sure to get the 2 servings of fat that is required when you are doing the full fast. Good luck on that and please be careful.

Now, back to Erica's regularly schedualed journalling.

Ooh

Postby dede4wd » January 14th, 2008, 8:26 pm

`Ooh,
Me too, me too!
I need someone to hold me accountable for my exercise too! My pilates at home is okay (even though I should do 1/2 hour on it every day!), but the treadmill at the hotels on the road...I just don't do it!

I'd love to join up with you guys in a exercise accountability thing! I need someone to point, laugh and throw stuff at me if I don't just DO IT! I know if I do anything for about 4 weeks, it becomes a habit for me, so I just need to get through that and i'm in the clear!

The worst part is that I feel SO much better after I exercise!

I've been adding the "extra" stuff too...Parking far away from where I'm going...every little bit helps, right?

Well Kelly, sounds like we have D onboard too! I will be doing every other day starting Wednesday (tomorrow is going to be crazy for me). HOPEFULLY, i will be able to get something in for tomorrow as a bonus. I am the same as Dede, it takes at least 3 weeks of a constant for habit to form. As much as i dislike exercise, my dislike became stronger as the weight increased. But a few years ago, when i used to exercise regularly (and lost weight along with it!), although i didn't always enjoy it, it was almost second nature~ hey, kinda like following the MF program. If i didnt exercise, i surely can't say that i "missed" it, or "needed to" but i can say that i liked the results. I've seen results and the results i want this time around cannot be achieved without exercise. I can lose all the weight in the world but i won't look good in a bikini without exercise! I have to tighten up some of these "loosies". So, like i said, Wednesday will be my first official day with tomorrow as a possible. Here we go ladies!
