Both of you should have stopped talking smack to each other (as entertaining as it has been) and started exercising weeks ago! Get to it! (Kym has been sickly so she can get away with a little walk for right now. If she won't be arrested for public intoxication from all that Nyquil.)

:roflmao: You are right though. If we had used our energy to exercise instead of running our chubby fingers over the keyboards (hey isn't that exercise?) we may be a few pounds lighter by now. Oh well, coulda, shoulda, woulda. Kym still has not responded to what exercise we are going to do. kym, don't make me start without you! I may be saving you a seat in the 40# club.

I won't be satisfied now until I have side by side pics of your hands.
(And now I am going to get off my rear and go for that walk I said I was going to take 5 hours ago.)

I'm not up for working out yet. I can hardly get out of bed and walk around the house this week. As soon as I am better though I'll start something.....I know I'll at least walk - no real excuse for that as I have a treadmill. I've been seriously considering going to curves - - I've never been much into working out in public though. I wonder how much I'll like it. Hmmm, I wonder if they have a pass of some kind where I can try it before I join. Anyway, I think I need something that will have built in help - - I mean, I normally walk because even a drunked up Nyquil idiot can do that. I want to strength train too though and that's where I am clueless - - and why I thought curves might be a good idea - - ?

Anyway, nothing until I am better though. I have zero energy right now. The scale fairy is being kind to me again and that makes me very happy.

Oh - and don't hold your breathe on beating me to the 40# club, chicky! I'm .8 away from that club level seating! <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_1_106.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0">

I don't mind taking your seat in every club you leave as lng as i don't leave your seat empty for too long. Besides, i promised to leave my seats warm for Carrie bu the way she's been movin, she and i might be sharing a club!

uh, i was previously kidding about the unmetabolized mac n cheese. I am starting to think it is a possibility! I weighed in this morning at 212.5!!!!! I think that is 1.2lbs more than christmas morning. I know what is going on. I haven't been getting my water in like i usually do AND the unmetabolized mac n cheese! I also had a higher sodium L&G than my norm. Oh well, if i can recognize what the issues are, i can correct them, right? Off to drink some water! All this and the scale fairy decides to go visit kym. <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_5_135.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D10%252F10_5_135/image.gif">

Hi Erica, thanks for the PM - I sent ya one back. Hope everything is going well in your neck of the woods. I was feeling pretty good Wednesday (pain pills ROCK!) and we needed some firewood brought in AND nobody else was home so.... yup, I got on my little knee scooter thingy (google Turning Leg Caddy if you want to know what I am talking about) and carried some wood in off the porch into the house. Man, a few trips of that and I was sweating like a pig! My mother was pretty ticked off when she got home and realized that I had carried in wood - oh well. I realize now that I could have slipped or fallen and done more damage to the ankle so I won't do it again.

What I am getting at is once you start to do some kind of regular work out even if it isn't an actual "work out" you will find it does make you feel better when you are done. I actually miss the feeling I was getting from my barn other misc chores.

Oh also, I was reading an article in a magazine about Zumba and I am REALLY interested in getting a video or something for when my ankle is ready for it. Can you recommend any? Do you have any copies you would be willing to part with?

Ok - time to get off the computer and to the sewing machine. My neice wants a dress for a dance tomorrow!

Blessings,

uh, didn't i just say something to you in the PM about doing too much? <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_103.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D4%252F4_2_103/image.gif"> are you one of those hard-headed ones?

Unfortunately, the zumba tapes that i have are my mother's so i can't part with them. I recommend all of them. You would think that since they are so fun, i could make it part of my routine! But alas...

Hmm, I'm not so sure about that :roflmao:.

I have never gotten that 'I must do this again' feeling or even the 'I miss working out' feeling. I've always hated it, dreaded it and have never enjoyed 'organized work outs'. Now, I love doing things like ice skating, walking with my daughter, etc etc but the thought of 'having' to do something just doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy. I know it's a mental thing - - just need to figure out how to get over that and keep losing. I did start work outs a few weeks back (maybe a month or more) and the scale stalled. (Remember, Erica???? LOL) I guess I have myself convinced to do one thing at a time - lose it then move it. Lots of people have lost without working out during the weight loss phase (Nancy for one, I do believe) so why can't I put it off until I near goal or stall???????

Just my thoughts....the best workout is walking, my preference is speed walking but I swear it's the easiest thing to do EVERY day. I do my tapes just to get a little more toned, but I could easily ignore the tapes if you know what I mean.

Walking really gives me ME time and a chance to clear my head. I usually feel pretty refreshed after a two mile walk.

Just my 2 cents worth... Get some exercise!!!!!

I was never one to exercise, avoided it my whole life. If it made ya sweat I didn't get involved. Of course my exercise was strictly moving my hand from my plate to my mouth!

About 3 weeks in to MF I started walking...just a little everyday and more each day as I could. Now I can power walk about 3.5 miles 5 times a week. Do I love it?? Uh, no. Some days I force myself to get going and I am always glad I did. I even bundle up and walk when it is 30 degrees!

Come on guys, we all know exercise has many many benefits beyond weight loss. Try it, you'll be proud you did!

I also go to Pilates classes. I DO love that, plus the class environment is lots of fun.

I am not much of one to do tapes at home alone, it bores me to death, but that is just me.

I will tell you what the big reward has been for me. My butt is looking very firm and shapely! Yes, I am lookin at it every day!
Reached Goal Nov 2007 61.5 lbs lost
Gained 11 lbs in Mexico 3/08, decided to lose that along with another 5 lbs!

I never knew that I would miss being "mobile" as much as I do. Sure, I can get around with the Turning Leg Caddy which is a LIFE SAVER, but I really do miss getting my heart pumping and getting some good ol sweat going.

What I need to do now is find some good exercises to work on my "wings". While I am seeing every other place in my body shrink, that stupid nasty fat under my upper arms is still hanging there. YUCK! Since I am unable to do anything that involves using my right ankle, I can work on my upper body I suppose.

Well, a Zumba DVD is now on my wish list. I think I will head to EBay and see what I can find there.

As Joleen can attest to, I had problems with my upper arms when she came to visit. I could wear a size 12 dress and my arms were so huge I told her I was going to photoshop them in a picture and did as a joke. It has taken time, more weight loss and lots of wall pushups but they are looking better. I have seen literally hundreds of picures of them at this point and unless I squish them down in weird ways they look okay. I still have excess skin there but they are much better than they used to be. If you don't have any weights you can use cans to work your biceps and triceps without involving your ankle. Working your bicep is easy. Just turn your arm with the inside facing forward and lift the can focusing on your bicep. The tricep is a little trickier to isolate. Hold the can or weight and let your arm hand lose by your side. Lift your shoulder up slightly and then go backwards with the can. You should be able to feel the muscle in the back of your arm. If you can't you aren't doing it right. Practice and patience!

That's when I started walking too, although I had been walking before when I was on WW pre MF. This is me when I had lost 31 pounds. I kept on exercising. To quote Joleen, results can be typical.
