Last meal

Postby Leah » October 28th, 2006, 6:44 pm

So here is my question. I know many health dieticians have stated that you shouldn't eat too late before bed. Some say nothing after 8pm. Today, I had my MEAL for lunch. So the rest of the day are MF meals. I am wondering, what is the latest I can have my meals? Does it matter on when I actually go to bed? Is there such a thing as don't eat any sooner then 2hrs before you go to bed? What ever that time maybe?
Thank you

With Medifast, you can eat right before bed. No problem.

I have heard you shouldn't eat anything past 6 pm, and I always wondered how my body could tell what time it is. I know my brain knows but how did my body know and what about all those people that work overnight and are sleeping at 6 pm? LOL I hate going to bed and feel full so I usually eat my last meal 1.5 to 2 hours before I got to bed.

That's for Medifast meals, though. I wouldn't eat my L&G (or a bar, if you eat those) right before bed. But the other ones are fine.

I often had an MF Oatmeal within a 1/2 hour of bedtime and it never slowed down my weight loss.

We all have an internal clock, some peoples are different than others. As long as you're going to bed the same time every night, you can set a time. however, from what I've read the rule is stop eating 4 hours before you think you'll be going to bed.

Since Medifast is mostly protein it seems, you probably don't have to worry about your insulin raising and storing fat.

That's not the rule with Medifast. We can eat right before bed and it doesn't hurt a thing. I regularly eat my last supplement just before bed....they're only about 100 calories. In fact sleeping 8 hours and eating nothing 4 hours before bed makes a pretty long stretch without food when we are eating only 800-1000 calories per day.

Even now, I have a pudding about an hour before bed. I wouldn't go eating a full meal (if you're in maintenance; a lean and green if you're on program) right before bed, but something small like a Medifast meal should be fine.

Medifast profucts I assume aren't high on the glycemic index. With a regular diet people tend to snack on sugary or starchy stuff before bed instead of making something healthy. As they say, food tastes better after midnight

I know for sure the products designated for diabetics are low on the glycemic index.
