She came out of surgery at 1:00 and they said she'd be in her room in one hour...Hmmmmm, now it has been over two hours and she is still in recovery...I

In the mean time, My dad is home with a home health aide and has Alzheimers...Not too much stress, eh? Mu husband and friends are being helpful, but all I want to do is EAT !!! Diet is lousy for today and I hope I can gather the strength to start again tomorrow and focus on my own health.

Just thought I'd say hello and say that I sure do miss being here...where I need to be !!

Hope you all are "rockin" the program ! I hhope to catch up soon ! :)

Pam what a tough time you are having! I hope your mother's recuperation will be swift and complete.

Stress-----the past 17 months have been horrible here and I am finding that the silver lining, in these numerous darn storm clouds, is that I need to practice coping with life's stressful times without turning to food to drown my feelings. I pray you'll find a coping mechanism that works for you.

Good Morning...
I am at this computer (parents computer) and have not been down to the kitchen yet, to decide on my food choices...Wanted to start here first.

I have all of my supp's with me and will start with them again today. I feel a sense of relief talking to you all and in knowing I can do this.....Focus Pam and make the RIGHT CHOICE. I feel like a ton of bricks and can't stand it... :(

Thank you Katie and Tawanda for writing...I just needed to hear your voices,ya know?

My Mom did not come out of recovery until 6 hours later !!!! They said she needed extra oxygen as she had shortness of breath... Wow...What a long day............

I prayed that Dad would sleep and not wander at night and he did sleep. I am thankfull for all of God's blessings right now, including all of you ! :D

The home health aide should be here at 10:00 and then I can go back to the hospital and see Mom...

I will also bring my water and supp's tothe hospital today...Will check in tonight and report on my day... Yes, accountability will prevail!!

Saturday Morning...
I had a rough day yesterday....My father became non-compliant for his aide and she had to call me. I immediately called his doctor and asked for some assistance (medically) to keep him calm. My Mom's blood pressure was not where they wanted it to be and they found a blood clot in her leg...*sigh* I was reminded that it "happens" and to remain calm. Ha !

I pray that when I return to the hospital today that things will have improved. The aide will not be back until Wednesday as she has another job until then...

I started out yesterday making good choices...Had 3 bars and then I had a Wendy's salad...The rest of the day was filled with anxiety and nerves. Yes, the peanut butter cookies won... but I feel I am making small changes in the right direction. I pray for a 5-1 day and will make every effort to do so...

Thanks for listening and for writing... It does my heart good ! :D

Keep that chin up my friend! Take control over the things that you have the ability to take control over and give the rest to God!

It's all about making the best choices you can each moment, one choice at a time. Don't stress about the diet, that just makes it worse. Make as many good choices as you have the strength for, then recoup and start the tally again. Deep breaths....

Sunday am...
Thanks everybody for your support and listening ear..Last night Dad was wide awake at 2:15 am fully dressed ! He wanted to go watch Tv in his chair and that meant I had to get up too...Gave him an other 1/2 of Zanax and prayed he'd get tired...We were both back in bed at 3:00 am and then he was up again at 6:30 am !!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH  No the Xanaz was not working...

I am now going to give him the Haldol that the Dr prescribed and pray he stays calm...I can't believe my Mom has hidden the severity of his illness this long...She will be transferred to a rehab hospital for her arm tomorrow and will not be home for 10 days...I have to go back to work on Wednesday and will have the aide here with Dad...Any of you have relative with Alzheimers??? Any suggestions when they are up at night???

Trying to be compliant...very hard...It's not that my choices are bad, just not on program...Yesterday I had a cup of soup and 1/2 sandwich at the coffee shop...can stress make you hungry????

I wish I could close my eyes and my parents would magically be well, and since I can't do that I will just pray for strength....It is very exhausting........
More later... :(

I'm so sorry to hear about all that you have going on with your parents right now. I know how hard it is, as I'm watching my mom go through the struggles with my grandfather. We're trying to plan his 90th birthday party - getting the whole family together to celebrate this big day - that HE won't even remember. Alzheimers is very sad, saddest for the immediate family once it's advanced.

Wishing you some easier times soon!

Best,

Lauren

27 days - I know it seemed like a long time to me, it must have been really unending for you. I hope things are working out better now, your parents are stable and doing as well as they can, and now you can focus on yourself for a while!
