12 pounds in 2 weeks are so awesome! You should be super proud of yourself, especially given how many directions you're pulled in any given day. Very motivating to read your journal! Keep up the terrific work!! I'm rootin' for ya! :)

Thanks Scarlet 2507 !
I had a struggle tonight at a party...My friend from graduate school was having a graduation party for her son and we were invited. My DH could not go as he had to work. I had not seen this friend in 4 years and wanted to attend and give her son a gift...So my daughter and I attended.

Well, I did not bring any shakes with me and had to make some very tough choices...My friend is originally from Bombay, India. She had some spicy food there and regular American food. I was STARVING and had to walk outside before I made any decisions about the food table:

1) I could leave and claim being "ill"...
2) I could say that we had eaten dinner already...
3) I could make the best choice, without going off plan

I chose #3 and was very careful with what I ate..As a result I had mostly salad- green lettuce with very little dressing, a boneless chicken breast, and lots of water !

There was a whole table full of unbelieveabe foods that were tempting, BUT NOT WORTH GOING OFF PROGRAM !!!

I will persevere and smile knowing that I overcame a very difficult situation...One down a million in front of me !!

CIAO !!

Way to go, KM!

Social situations are still sticky for me sometimes, too. I'm glad you went! And you made fantastic choices! That's what living the BeSlim life is all about. You're doin' it, chickie!! Go get 'em!

:cheermed: :cheerleader: :cheermed:

However! Don't start walking until Day 22. That's next Friday, right? Lori Andersen, the TSFL nurse, confirmed that most women lose about 2 lbs a week. Even when I was over 300 lbs, I found that to be true. To be honest, you might want to consider adding an extra shake in your day and increasing your water to at least 120 oz a day. Give that a shot first before you start increasing your energy expenditures. It sounds counterintuitive, but trust me here.
Here's to our mutual success! :buddies: --Diana

What a day....

I guess the first thing I'd like to say is that I am human...You know what comes next...I gave in to temptation, BUT LEARNED FROM IT ! I had another day of unexpected errands and didn't think I'd be away from home without missing a supplement...WRONG PAM ... I was detoured to pick up my daughters friend, had a salad (not bad) and then proceeded to do errands that put me way over my 2.5-3.0 hours twice !!!

What did I do? I drove my daughter and her friend to a creamery that sells home made ice-cream...Yes I had some too. It wasn't like I was sitting in my car and was just tormented by choices...Oh no...I just got out of the car (like sleep walking) and marched right up to the counter and ordered my daughter and her friend's flavors and then mine, WITHOUT SKIPPING A BEAT !!!!

How does that happen to us? It's like I wasn't even conscious of what I was doing ! Okay, I am done confessing and will get back on the horse and keep going tomorrow like it never happened...

UGH...I feel so disappointed in me..... sigh

Lauren, Mike, Diana, Dogma...When you were losing all that weight...Did these moments ever occur?????

Pam,

You have been doing great. Remember, its course corrections. There are times when we let our minds not focus on what we truly want, and we let what we desire right this second take over. I am guilty of doing these things (alot). Its probably the reason I am still not at goal... but ya know what... I persevere and keep at it. Thats what you need to do.
That ice cream is just one thing... don't focus on that, focus on those 12 lbs and all the rest you are going to rid yourself of.

On the other side of things... it sounds like you don't keep packets in your car or in your purse. That is the key, especially when unplanned things crop up. I suggest keeping a few of your favorite shake packets in the car and a couple in your purse (or maybe a fruit and nut bar - they don't melt). That way, if you are out and about, you are a bottle of water away from a shake. I always keep various products with me anywhere I go (I have a drawers at school stashed and I keep a couple packets in the car console (and in my school bag).

Hopefully these little tricks will help you. Keep at it and don't let the slip hinder you. Recognize where it came from and learn from it.

Have a great tomorrow.

AWW Wilson, these things happen to even the best of the Medifasters! Really!!! When I was completely, totally, 100% on plan and averaging a pound a day last fall I often found myself with a candy bar or ice cream sandwich in hand waiting in line at the gas station. Someone would have to wake me out of my stupor and save me from myself. "Shake" it off (pun intended) and get right back on.

You are totally rockin this time!! You can do it!

Sometimes you can win the battle in spite of yourself, too. Last night I was at the store getting baby formula and diet soda and I spent five minutes in the cookie aisle determined to get something chocolatey. I walked out with nothing because none of those taste sensations seemed worth the money. So it can go both ways, good and bad auto-pilot. Or maybe that was just because I'm cheap.... ;)

Hey Katesmom,
I'm so glad to see you're back on the horse again! That's all we need to learn to do if we slip up or make a mistake. That's half the battle! Great job, and hope all is well today!

Hey there. Sorry, just read the posts here. I saw your post in my journal and answered there ...

To answer your question, I never unconsciously ate that way ... but I did eat those things on occasion (but with full intent). Say what you will about wanting to be thin, etc., but sure, sometimes I wanted that treat more than I wanted to be thin, at least at that moment. Then again, I also didn't see it quite that way, because I didn't believe (and don't believe now) that being thin means never eating ice cream (or bread, or cookies or whatever).

This is NOT to encourage anyone on plan to eat this stuff, so please don't take it that way. But those foods aren't evil; they're part of life. Honestly, if I had to choose between being thin and never having ice cream again, or being overweight and having it, I'd probably choose the weight. Thankfully, that's not a choice I have to make. For me, it was about gaining control and learning to have those foods only occasionally, and only in small amounts.

Hi all,
Thanks Scarlet, Mike and Dogma on your responses and support...Today went very smoothly and by being conscious of every three hours of my program, I was successful... No car was bought quite yet, but it was a busy and interesting day, to say the least.

If I can survive the next 4.5 weeks of my daughter being home (really do love her to pieces) I will be great ! I really believe early pubescence is visiting our home ! Mood swings, irritability, etc...you'd think she was on the first 3 days of Medifast !! Ha !

Anyway, I am really glad that the board is coming alive again...Sure did miss it too.

I am here to offer anyone support if I can...

Thanks to all of you...No one quite understands what being addicted to food is really like, unless you are here.

It is 5 minutes away from August 1st !! Yahoo !!

Let us ALL Celebrate a new month together !!! :whoohoo:

Yay, Katesmom! I'm glad you stayed OP last night! It does get difficult, especially with outside forces reigning in all the time! I'm so excited it's a new month, with new growth for everyone! (Or should I say loss? haha)

I'm so glad I stuck with it through those two horrible days I was having with the internal gas and such. Now, I don't feel it nearly as much, and I'm feeling super energetic! You can get through these couple days of uncomfort, because in the end, it will totally be worth it!!! :-) Hope you have a great day!
