Just wondering....what if you do mess up?

Postby Lissakay » January 31st, 2005, 3:08 pm

If you mess up and eat some forbidden food, how many days do you mess yourself up for? Do you have to start at day 1 again and go through four tough days to get back into ketosis?

I know someone who had a little problem today....hmmm.

Not that I would know ;) but whoever eats something off plan has to spend those first few days all over again to get back into ketosis. My best advice? Just pretend it didn't happen and keep shaking like a maniac. Have your friend remember how crappy it is to repeat the first few days and how great ketosis feels (lack of hunger, more energy, etc).

Hi Lissa,
No blushing allowed. EVERYONE messes up. We're all human.

One little mess up in the whole scheme of things will make very little difference. Continual mess ups will make a BIG difference.
Like Mikey says, "Get it DONE".

You have made it a little more difficult on yourself. For the program to work you do have to get into ketosis to burn the fat and relieve the hunger. Everyone is different so it may not affect you at all depending how much you ate and how your body reacts to it. Or you may be set back for a couple days til you get back into mild ketosis. Anyway you look at it, it's no biggie in the overall picture.

Keep shakin' and slurping,
Unca

I know I haven't started shaking yet (waiting for my food), so maybe advice from me is unwarranted, but. . .

Years ago, I had a Weight Watchers leader who used to tell those of us who fell of that when that happens, you pull yourself up, brush yourself off and get right back on the horse. I always remember that.

As Unca Tim said, slips are gonna happen, but getting right back on track at the next meal will make the slip seem less important and you can get right back on track. Easier said than done, for those of us who are perfectionists though!

Lesson Learned

Postby Lissakay » February 1st, 2005, 8:50 am

I told that someone all of the great advice that was posted and I'm sure she will take it in.

"She" also got very sick last night. Maybe after all of that clean eating, junk just wasn't working. I think the pain from being sick, the delay, etc. will keep me, I mean her, from having this problem again.

Thanks for the kind words. My loss for the first week still ended up being 5 pounds.

Hugs,

Lissa :uhuh:

Lissa,
I've been wondering how you were doing. Sorry to hear that your "friend " is having a difficult time, but I'm sure she's going to be able to hop right back on again.
Your 5 lb. loss for the first week should be an inspiration to her :)

Hi back!

Postby Lissakay » February 1st, 2005, 9:16 am

Hi Monkeymom. I was glad to see you had gotten your supplies and were ready to go.

I tried to send you a message to be email buddies but it didn't go through.

Good to her from you. I'm sure my goofy friend will have a better week this week.

Lissa ;)

Hey Lissa. Shouldn't you be in school? I thought you teach lower grades, am I mistaken? (wouldn't be the first time......lol).

Anyway, here's my email address, you can just fire away to that and I will respond back to you.

Sorry about that Mr. Snippy. I post on several forums, and sometimes forget which ones allow what. NEVER post any profanity though

No Prob MM,
The no email rule is for your own protection. Automated "bots" are constantly searching the internet for email addresses. We get dozens, if not sometimes hundreds of probes a day. Once they find your email address, you're bombarded with spam. You should never post your email in public anywhere on the internet. Long as you add your email in your profile, it's "safely" available to "humans" by clicking on the email button on your individual posts or profile provided by the forum.

Lissakay -

Remind your "friend" of what Nancy's mantra is:

"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels".

If it helps, make your own mantra and post it all over your house. I took my mantra from Mike (Explorthis): GET IT DONE! It's working for me. I also starting buying smaller sized clothing (that are on sale) - like size 8's cause I know I will be able to wear them when I get to my goal.
I bought a small size 3-piece jogging/lounging outfit that was on a fab sale. The outfit is also in a cataloge the store sent me. I cut out the picture of the suit, cut off the models head and attached my face to it. And you know what? I'm starting to "see" myself thin! YEAH!
Good Luck!

Lissa,

I love Jen's post of getting right back on the horse. It's so right that no one is perfect. If you or your friend fall off, know that the rest of us on the train to thinville are always here to extend a helping hand to you to jump back on. Even though I'm at goal, I still ride the train to thinville - I consider myself sort of a stewardess which I always wanted to be.

Camille, you are ever the gracious weight attendant and I thank you!

Triskets, I  your idea of pasting your head onto the body of the catalog Babe - it is imjportant to begin visualizing your thinner self NOW because it is where we are all headed! Think thinny thoughts and we'll all arrive in Thinsville with huge grins and smaller waistlines!

Lissakay...it's all right! Glad your friend confided in you. Dust the crumbs off her chinny chin chins and mix her up a delectible bananner shake.

Random acts of scarfage can indeed put us back - some lucky  can slip by and still slip off a few ounces but I am not one of them...I have some kinda magnetic attraction to flab and every transgression makes its ugly appearance...

The important thing is to keep looking forward, learn from your detour, remember the skanky feeling you had as a result of eating gar-bahje and internalize the way you feel when eating the things that are best for you.

Shake on, Thinny Friends!
