I'm just not sure.....

Postby Tankie » June 5th, 2006, 9:31 pm

So I subscribed to MyMedifast to see what it was all about and to find if they had any more hints on how to make the whole diet process more pleasureable. So anyways, one of the things they do is send you a tip of the day....Todays tip was about eating out Mexican style, now the whole thing is some of the stuff on the list I didn't even think we were allowed to have....here's the copy....let me know what you think....

Tips for Eating Out Mexican Style

Between the tortilla chips and margaritas, it’s very easy to go calorie crazy at a Mexican restaurant. Here are our top picks on a Mexican menu to keep your diet in check:

Salsa as a topping or dip
Jicama slices with lime juice
Whole wheat tortilla or soft taco as a wrap
Vegetarian refried beans (made without lard)
Fresh or steamed vegetables on the side versus fried
Red beans and rice, minus fatty pork
Small (or half a) burrito or fajita – load it up with veggies, chicken and/or black beans. Steer clear of the sour cream and mounds of shredded cheese
Fruit sorbets

Tortilla...red beans and rice...black beans....fruit sorbet...
these things all threw me off....I could be wrong I am still new to this program. But if I did have this stuff wouldn't it throw me out of ketosis??

Ugh....

That sounds more like a tip for maintenance. It's definitely not OK to eat that stuff in the weight-loss phase.

Yeah, I'm used to going without most of that stuff, but I'd kill for a low-carb tortilla at this point.

I've been getting the MyMedifast Tip of the Day since they started it. Most of their tips are directed toward maintenance. I agree with you, they should qualify the tips. Someone new to the program could definately misunderstand.

Yeah pretty much all of the tips I've gotten from them are geared towards maintenance.. which is fine and all, but they really should say they are for maintenance. Supposedly it's something they are working on, but it doesn't hurt for new people to mail them and remind them.
