Jeanette's Weird Question of the Week

Postby Jeanette » November 17th, 2003, 8:21 am

Hi y'all:

How can I mix my Medifast shake into diet soda without it EXPLODING all over the place??? I did this yesterday, with some very humorous side effects. I used a vanilla shake in diet root beer. Once the suds went down, it tasted great!

Any advice? Thanks!

I had the same problem. I prefer to mix it in about 16 oz of SODA, for a real filling (Diet Coke) meal

Pour in about 2-3oz of soda first, in a big cup (like Tupperware tumbler)then pour in the packet of Medifast. It will foam up 1/2-3/4 of the cup. Stir it thoutoughly w/ a spoon, not in a shaker cup w/lid. Stir-stir-stir. Foam will dissipate. After this concoction is thouroughly mixed, pour in the rest of the soda (I like a lot) and it will not foam all over (as happened to me more than once) Just mix it up (the whole sha-bang) with a spoon now, and viola!!!

Jeanette,
Nancy recommended using a blender and that's what I've been doing. I do the Orange shake in a Diet Orange Sunkist soda. I put the diet pop in the blender first then add the powder and 4 or 5 large ice cubes and blend till smooth. It tastes like Orange Sherbert!

I was worried about blending out the carbonation the first time I did it, but it tasted great, so I don't worry about it any more.

Have a great shaking day,
Ellen

Shake Mixed with Soda

Postby Nancy » November 17th, 2003, 10:57 pm

So...another one of those WILD Lava Shake Experiences, eh?

Yeah, ALWAYS put the liquid into the blender or shaker jar first. Then add the packet of shake mix to the liquid. I have never tried mixing soda pop with the packet in a shaker jar. I just knew it would foam up to exceed the size of the jar. I added about 4 ounces of soda to begin with in my blender, plopped in the packet of shake mix, whirled it up, added more pop and the ice – I wanted mine to taste like a frosty root beer float. It is great in a blender.

I like Mike's idea to mix it with a spoon until smooth before adding more soda. I may try one this week.

I am up a couple of pounds - too many special events going on and I ate more and exercised less..true confessions, eh? I won't allow myself to be more than five pounds over my goal.
