Ice Creamy Shake

Postby just_julie » March 16th, 2006, 4:24 pm

Ever make a shake with your MF pudding mix? I did a search to see if this has been discussed before, but I didn't find anything. I used a chocolate MF pudding, 6 oz water, and about a cup of crushed ice in my Smoothie maker. I had to add another 6 oz of water because it got so thick. I also added a packet of Splenda because I like my pudding a little sweeter. I got brave and added a pinch of Crystal Light (strawberry, banana, orange) which turned out a little weird, BUT... It feels just like an ice cream shake! I know that when I get my SF PB syrup (instead of the Crystal Light combo), this will be AWESOME! Too bad they don't make vanilla pudding - I LOVE vanilla shakes!

EDIT - I've changed things since my first try. Originally my recipe almost filled a 32 oz cup. I now use 1 cup of ice and 1 cup of water (or less if I add syrups.) It turns out to fit in a 16 ounce glass comfortably. And it's REALLY creamy! I also don't add the Splenda - especially if Iuse a syrup. Experiment on your own - I think you'll like it. Some others have experimented with the banana pudding. I don't do banana flavored stuff...

Cheers!

I just had another WONDERFUL pudding shake. Have you guys tried this yet?! Is this sometihng everyone is doing, and I am just out of the loop?

If you like chocolate ice cream shakes, use your chocolate pudding to make a shake! They are so thick and creamy! Add about 3/4 cup ice, 6-8 oz. water, some SF syrups if you want, whip it up in your blender and VOILA! YUM!

BTW - I got my PB syrup, which makes a great choco-PB shake, but just now I had a caramel, vanilla, chocolate pudding shake. I'll say it again... YUM!

I've heard of people thickening up the shakes to make it pudding-like, but never the other way around.

Sounds like a great idea. I'm sure other's will be giving it a try.

I'll definitely give this a try some night when I am hungry. 32oz. would be a little much for me at night.

Hmmm . . . I think I am going to have to give that a try as I am not too crazy about the chocolate pudding as it is (and I love chocolate).

I'm SO glad you people finally found my thread. No one said anything about my first post for DAYS! :)

I've updated my first post because I've modified the recipe a little since my first try. I now use 1 cup of ice and 1 cup of water (or less if I add syrups.) It turns out to fit in a 16 ounce glass comfortably.

I'm so HAPPY I could HELP! :chef: What a little chef I am!

I finally tried this today and it is absolutely wonderful! I'll probably make it with a little less water next time, because I used probably 12-14 oz. and it was a little watered down. Next time, I'll stick to about 8oz. and add more if needed.

Great recipe! I can't wait to try it with banana pudding. I may try putting it in the freezer for about an hour or two.
