Ice Cream!!!

Postby Pashta » April 18th, 2007, 9:45 am

This is a recipe from over on the official Medifast forums. Apparently everybody loves it to death. The lady who posted it is just about worshipped, LOL. Her name is dbbthreads and she has lost 82 pounds already, at least one 100+ pound loser advocates these as well.

I got to thinking about this because someone posted about the rootbeer float which sounded yummy. Also months ago, people were doing something like cheese cake with pudding and cream cheese. So I put it together. My husband tasted it (who is a food snob, and eats no diet anything), and he thought it was a dead ringer for soft serve ice creme.

1 pck of vanilla pudding
1/2 cup of cold water
1 cup of ice
1 oz of cold fat free creme cheese
1/2 tsp of almond extract
1 pkt of splenda

put in the magic bullet until all is mixed up
Hot dang, I had ice cream yall!

Now I am a little worried if I enjoyed this a little too much. So we will see.

She also posted this:

Heavenly Hash Ice Cream
MF chocolate pudding
1/2 cup of ice
1 oz of cream cheese
almond extract
put it in the Magic Bullet until smooth
When is comes out, fold in some Walden Farms marshmellow dip. Don't stir it too much, or it will just mix well. Instead, fold it in, and you will have little ribbons of the marshmellow just like heavenly hash ice cream.

FYI. I just checked the nutrition facts on the fat free creme cheese. 1 oz is two tablespoons. This equals 30 calories, 0 fat, 3gr carbs (2 sugars), and 4gr protein. Given that, it would count as two condiments. However, I take the 1 oz. off my lean given the protein.

There are 9 pages of replies over there to this, with people trying all different flavorings, even using shakes (orange makes sherbert!). I want to try this later. I just tried it now but I apparently didn't do it right because it came out to be soup. I guess you don't make the pudding first (I did and it was wrong), you just throw everything into the blender at once. :)

Response to the question of are we allowed cream cheese from Nutrition Support:

Hello-
We do not encourage cream cheese because of its carbohydrate content and saturated fat content. Actually regular cream cheese is lower in carbohydrate (0.4 grams/ Tbsp)content than its fat free counterparts(1.05 grams of carbohydrate/ Tbsp). We do try to support customers in acheiving success and also incorporating products that they desire to be successful and stay committed to the program. Cream cheese can be incorporated as a condiment serving. One tablespoon =one condiment servings.

While regular or low-fat cheese can be a meatless substitute, cream cheese must be used as a condiment because it is mostly fat and does not contain the protein content.
thanks for inquiring...
Joni

and

Jewelspet,
Although this is not a combination of products that Medifast recommends for guaranteed weight-loss results, it does fit within the program guidelines when used in place of the recommended snack options.

Best of luck,
The Medifast Nutrition Support Team

and

I would recommend using it as a condiment rather than a protein. I would also recommend being aware of overall carbohydrate intake for the day if you are having any trouble losing, or have hit a standstill.

Ok, you have to put it all in the blender at the same time. It really DOES taste like ice cream! It was like melted ice cream but I bet if I use only 1/4 c of water next time it'll be thicker. :)

I get great results by just putting my pudding in the freezer for an hour. The outside is frozen but not hard and the inside is like fudge sauce. No added stuff and delish! It really does satisfy any craving I have for ice cream.
