hunger question

Postby stacie4 » May 15th, 2007, 2:34 pm

Hi everyone, hope you all are having a wonderful week. I have a quick question, I know that when you are in the "mild ketosis" state you are not supposed to be hungry or crave anything. Does anyone ever have days where they are just hungry all day even with the shakes every 3 hours. Does it mean you have somehow fallen out of ketosis, b/c I have not been cheating at all?? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

A lot of the time I am lucky enough not to feel hungry at all. But all it takes is less water than usual, a delayed supplement, a tempting dish shoved in my face and I still experience "hunger" or "cravings." If I do a 6-0, I am usually hungry the next morning whereras usually I am not hungry in the mornings. So you are doing fine. If it is real hunger have some water, a snack or a supplement and if it is just a craving, try to distract yourself, go on a walk, read a magazine, it will go away.

Biki wise... listen to Biki..... Biki know ;)

For me.... hunger is usually "head" hunger. I hardly ever get "physical" hunger anymore. Its just cravings. When I do experience hunger, I drink some water, have pickles, SF popscicle, or a SF mint. Get up, get moving, do something different.

I notice on days when I "feel" hungry all day it is typically due to some emotional stress, and not hunger at all. Just old triggers. I try to busy myself and also have pickles or broth so I can have my hands moving towards my mouth!

Normally I don't experience much hunger. My cravings seem to be more of a memory of things rather than real cravings.

Good for you staying compliant.

Hi Stacie,
Unlike the others I did get hungry while doing the 5&1. I was doing everything by the book but still had that gnawing feeling. On those days I would add a shake, space meals about 2-2.5 hours apart. While it is not the prescribed MF plan (& may have slowed my weight loss a bit), having a little extra also kept me on MF and heading towards my goal.
Best to you~
Amber

You're absolutely right, that can be what it takes to help people get there. I've prescribed it a couple of times to people who just seem to have that nagging hunger. Those people are few and far between but have the answer to help.
