How is everyone handling the HEAT?!?

Postby SharonR » July 22nd, 2006, 8:15 pm

It's 113 here in California, Bay Area. Today I feel a little worried and scared because it's been hot now for over a week with tempertures in the high 90's and into the 100's. The forcast for the next week says 100 across the board....

It seems to be rather hot across the country....

How is everyone holding up?
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Melting here at the fair.. lol. I sent Di home about 330, and she came back with dinner at about 7 PM, but I signed someone up right when she got back, so that was at least productive.

i'm not sure what freakin' state i'm in right now. 30 minutes ago, it was 93 degrees. it was still and hot-- i even took a quick cam pic of the sunset.

all of a sudden, the temp dropped a good 20 degrees. winds came from nowhere-- steady 15-20 miles an hour, and there is lightning.

what the heck?

Today was our first day below 100 in over a week. It's been freaking HOT. I mostly stay inside as much as I can, and make the dogs come inside periodically (oddly enough, they can't seem to get enough of it out there!).

Medifast-wise, I added a snack on some days when I'm out more than usual - got some sugar-free Popsicles. I figure they're extra water, too.

And today I decided I don't care how flabby my upper arms are right now, I got some tank tops to wear under my old sleeveless shirts that are too big to wear alone.

Well we are roasting here in Washington State too. Yesterday was 104....hot hot hot for us. And today was in the 90's It was supposed to be 98 but I'm thankful it didn't make it. We'll see what tomorrow's like. The worst part is it isn't cooling off at night.... and of course no air conditioning in the house. I even spotted one of our son's kittens panting today in the house.. first time I've even seen a kitten pant. He is black with long hair though so I felt really sorry for him. Sure hope we get back to our usual summer highs of about 80.

It was officially 109 in Gilroy today, though when I got in my car it said 118 and then dropped to 113 after I drove around a bit. Practically melted into the asphalt walking from the parking lot over to WalMart...

Just went out and it said 95!..It's 11:16PM!! It feels like Vegas, only we've got the "added joy" of humidity!!!!

I usually golf on Sundays, and if we decide to do it tomorrow, we'll be there around 7:00AM to tee off and hopefully beat some of the heat. We are mostly staying in the house, even the covered patio is too warm to enjoy and FORGET the hot tub!!! I've put a half dozen bottles of water in the freezer to have available just in case we have to go out in the car.

Keep cool and shakin'

It has been a fairly normal summer here in Georgia. Temps around 93 or so mostly. We are all used it but then cant wait for Fall to arrive LOL

The forecast looks promising though...mid-80's with a 50% chance of rain every day the next 10 days. Here in the Mtns anything above a 30% chance is almost a promise that it will rain lol

There is a bright side. We could all be in Queens where the electricity has been out for a week.
