Postby Guest » January 12th, 2004, 10:34 am

I have a sister who under went Gastric Bypass and it basically is very reduced calorie liquid diet, how does Medifast compare? From what I have read the weight loss seems to be just as quick.

Hi....
Ummm...basically with Medifast you still have a functioning stomach.

From what I understand, after gastric bybass you're on a very limited diet for the rest of your life.

bypass thoughts

Postby Indigo » January 14th, 2004, 11:08 am

I went through the same thought process you did. What really IS stomach stapling? If you look at the 'post-surgery' diet, it IS essentially fasting- only you've made permanent, unalterable changes to your body for the rest of your life. Not to mention the pain, trauma, and expense.

I was seriously considering a stomach bypass, too. I have almost 100lbs to lose, have failed every other option, and would certainly 'qualify'. But I want to be kinder to myself, I want to get the weight off, and be healthy . . . . long term. So, yes, I believe that I can accomplish the same thing with Medifast, but in a much kinder, better, less traumatic way.

just started . . . 243.0 . . . .93lbs to go!
