Great question, LoriO!
I think sometimes we think...well, I looked great at 120 in highschool (or some other time in our young lives) and say, I want to be 120.
At 45, I really don't know what I should weigh. I don't accept that it's normal to weigh 10 or 20 lbs. more in midlife but at the same time...should I really expect to look like I did at 16?
I'm post menopausal and I can say that at the very least, my weight distributes itself differently than it once did.
Currently, I'm at 135. I'm about 5'4". I want to lose another ten and see how I feel. Right now there's just a little too much jiggle to my wiggle. heh.
My Medifast experience, for anyone interested:
Before medifast, I found it impossible to lose even a pound. I felt out of control and only gained. I quit getting on the scale at one point--but the last weight I registered was 148.5.
The first six weeks I lost 7 lbs. (Take courage, slow losers!)
During the next four weeks it became 10 lbs.
After those first two months I went into a sort of maintenance mode where I had at least 3 supplements a day. I watched what other things I ate and as often as possible stuck to a lean and green type dinner.
I lost an additional 3-5 lbs over the course of 3-4 mos. , meaning it's varied a little.
I'm going back full on the program tomorrow morning so...the adventure continues.
I think, to get back to your question, it's important to see how you feel. We are all so different. I like the idea of tentative goals. If you know you should be "somewhere between this and that"...get there first.
