Has anyone hid their mf plan and meals from co-workers?

I really am not ready to disclose my new diet to people I work with. I could with a couple, but the rest it really isn't any of their business. But making the shakes every 3 hours hasn't been the easiest. Plus I would love to have some bouillon in an hour, but I don't want my office pod partner sniffing it and asking what I have.

I would love any tips or advice.

All I tell people when they ask me what plan I am using is that it is a Dr recommended plan that teaches me to eat smaller portions several times a day. I also tell them it is a well balanced program of the proper amounts of fat, cal, protein, and carbs. There are those who are battling weight that ask and I share everything with them because I believe that everyone that needs to lose weight should try Medifast. You will know when you feel comfortable sharing with others till then just have your bouillon and tell your office partner that it helps warm you up!!

I'm with you that it's no ones's business, especially if you feel uncomfortable telling them.

The office I work in is above a physical therapy office/gym. The owner's desk is in our break room we share. He always makes comments about what I eat because I was following low carb for so long. I did lose, but it was too slow. Anyway, he has been watching me heat my soup but that's all he has seen. Once he asked me what I was eating because it smelled so good and I just said soup. End of discussion. :roll: He is thin and makes ignorant comments so I won't bother telling him what I'm doing.

An example of him being a dimwit: One day I was making a salad and I have a large bowl so I can mix my salad and veggies. He was in the way and I asked him to pass me the bowl. He says and I quote, "Wow, this is so big it looks like a trough". I just gave him a dirty look and said thanks when he handed it to me. Can we say tactless?? I wanted to smack him!! :whip:

Keep it to yourself for now and when you are looking thin and HOT you can share your plan. Do what feels good to YOU!

Hey there Kido! Like you said, it's hard to keep it under wraps when the prying eyes of the office are upon you :cateye: . Lisa and Sue gave great tips.

My hubby didn't want anyone in his office to know either, but they all found out cuz of the shakes n stuff and he wasn't joining in on their weekly food orgies! LOL But he was pleasantly surprised. Everyone is being VERY supportive. They make sure not to eat in front of him. They cheer him on and tell him he's doing great! Now he's even getting comments on how much better he's looking :)

Sue, I think I would have clobbered that guy with that bowl and then say "Oh so sorry, it IS rather big ISN'T IT?!?!?!" LOL you were very sweet to simply say thank you.

:wave: Hi Kido & Everyone else! I've only told a couple of people. It's none of their business & I don't feel like being watched with everything I eat. "What's that?" "Is that all you're eating?" or (& I personally love this one) "I don't believe in gimmicks & all these fad diets" Ya, that's what I said too & now I'm losing my big fat bottom :x . Oh! I got my grrrr on, :lightening: I'm much better now. :angel: When people notice (& they are now) I tell them but otherwise ... forget it!

Everyone in my office and around me knows what I'm doing. When they're literally piggin out and I'm having a soup or a shake, I usually say something like "I'm sorry to eat this delicious soup in front of you.....I know you must be jealous" or "Sorry, I'm not sharing, ummmm" They think I'm kidding, but really, I love my MF as well as the cr** they're stuffing down and I feel so much better afterward. Little do they know that I will not be going back to the feeding frenzy days when I'm at goal.

As for strangers and mere acquaintences, it is none of their business. We live in a fairly small town and lots of people know me but not personally. When they ask, I just say "I'm on a special diet" and if they say "How much have you lost?" (I think that is so rude), I just say "Lots" That's it.

Interesting you bought that up. I'm ALWAYS telling folks I am doing this I am doing that to the point they ask what are you doing now. Of course they never see a difference because I stay on a plan for maybe 2 to 3 days then it gets old and I go back to eating anything and everything. But for some reason I did not want to share this with anyone. The only one that knows I am on MF is my husband. I haven't even told my mother or close friends. I kind of think that this means something since it is so different for me.

Anyway I thought I would just tell folks when they notice I am losing weight, probably 20 pounds from now.

It really isn't anyone's business. :roll:

Had someone (my boyfriend) try that one on me. Wait a minute...isn't he the Atkins convert?!?! When I pointed this out to him he said, "But Atkins is different." Argh!!! :aarggh:
At least he took the time to look at my research and has since changed his opinion and is now being extremely supportive. :clapclap:

Losing weight is a very personal issue. It affects your body, and you have a right to decide whether to talk about it or not. I found that if you tell people what you are doing you will have to deal with their questions and opinions about your plan.

When I first started on the Medifast I had my MF meal on my breaks away from everyone. Then I took my shake with me and walked during my lunch time. I kept it a secret until I lost about 20lbs. Then when they asked me about it I gave them brochures about the medifast program instead of answering all their questions. If they were truly interested I gave them my Health Advisors phone number so they could find out more about the products.

What helped me was that some of my friends started the program after me and we helped each other stay focused on our goal.

I too thought I would not discuss it with the office. Not an option. They all wanted to know why I didnt want to go in on pizza. I told them and they were supportive, at least to my face. They all would like to see me lose weight and one girl even offered to diet with me. So I guess letting them know turned out ok. Every office is different. I am with you though....I would rather leave my food private. Who wants others commenting on what you eat and making judgements on what you decide to do.

I work in the fire department and am the only girl and am a newbie there, so I didn't want to draw any attention to myself by doing this diet. So I went to walmart and bought 3 ten oz bottles, all the same color. I pre mix my shakes the night before and put them in my lunch bag. Since they are not clear, the guys just assume that I am drinking water. I also bring the oatmeal pack for my 10 am "Meal" which would ordinarily come in a similar looking packet. I also stick a MF bar in my pocket and eat it at the appropriate time, and pack a huge salad!! The guys just think that I don't like their cooking (its pretty bad) and leave me alone.

The only time they make fun of me is when I am running to the bathroom every 20 min because of my 100 oz of water.

Bokkie, I have actually thought about buying something, but didn't know what. Never thought of the 10 oz bottles.

The 10 oz bottles work great because the shakes are supposed to be mixed with 8 oz of water. It leaves just enough shaking room once you add the powder. They cost $1.96 at walmart, and make it really convenient.

Also, if you buy the flavored syrups (I like the watermelon and green apple) you can mix them with the vanilla shake and they taste wonderful. :lol:

I tried hidding it at my office for about a week. Than it was just too much effort. People would ask what I was having and make a face I just smiled and enjoyed whatever I happoned to have. When I started mixing the syrups with my shakes in a blender people would droll over them. Every now and that I would get the questions like is it safe, wouldn't exercise be better, ext ext. I just started handing people the John's Hopkins research information. They still might not agree with it, but it is harder to argue with 20+ years of reasurch like that. I didn't like the oatmeal when I started but now I have found that I do like it and I have one person that walks by everytime I make sniffing my office just becuase he likes the smell.

Do what makes your comfortable. If people do ask you about it tell them it is a doctor recomened Medical meal plan. Throwing in Doctor and Medical seam to be enough to fend off most of the busy bodies.

I've only told two people at work about what I'm doing. I work with them closely everyday, and I trust them. They've been very supportive. I don't drink the shakes at work though. I usually have the bars, soups, oatmeals, cappucinos, and/or hot cocoa. I can make them discreetly at work.

I don't want people to know because they tend to scrutinize you when they know you're trying something. I'm not at the point where my weight loss is really noticeable. But if someone asks, I'll tell them.
