Postby Neeko » March 17th, 2006, 8:55 am

Hi everyone. I was on here yesterday posting about the eating meals at work question. I was suprised that everyone was so helpful and friendly! I decided to join and get started on the program asap. Here is some info about me: my name is Kari and I am 20 years old. I like to read, watch movies, I used to love to surf but haven't in a while because of my weight. :? I work at a grocery store and go to a community college. I live with my boyfriend and my lab Neeko. I have pretty much been over weight all my life, probably since about age 12 or so. Since then I have struggled with it. I have never tried diets because I have always felt they were a waste of time and money. I have tried cutting back eating significantly..which always rebounds. I am 5'1 and weigh 180lbs..my heaviest. About 2 and a 1/2 years ago I was just 140! I was in pretty good shape then..but still needed to lose a little bit more weigth. I gained all that weight in 2 years! I decided to try this program because I am tired of feeling so blah. I am not active anymore..I have a gym membership that is going to waste and a new surfboard that has only been used once. I feel like I missed out on my youth and now I am missing out on my 20's. One thing I think everyone should know about me is I am SO picky! I don't eat veggies..except for lettuce, raw carrots and celery. I love salads, but only with lettuce, chicken, croutons, and lemon. I do not like any salad dressings what so ever. I am pretty much a meat and bread kinda girl. I am kind of worried about the shakes and bars on this program because I have tried other protein/power bars (whatever they are) and I really don't like them. I hope these taste somewhat different..but if they don't I will force them down anyways! Well, sorry this is so long  I guess I got a little carried away, but thanks for reading about me!

Welcome Neeko! Glad to see you joined up, and I wish you the best of luck and all the willpower you need to succeed. At least you said you like lettuce and celery, those two things you can have on this plan. ;)

:goodluck: and break out of that shell! :hatch:

Welcome

Postby Julie » March 17th, 2006, 9:21 am

Welcome Neeko  I was really afraid about the food too but when i tried them it wasn't so bad. You can add spices and doctor them up as much as you like just watch the sugar and sodium content. I add splenda and cinniman to the oatmeals and mrs dash spices to the soups, It tastes great after. The bars i thought were kind of dry but now i love them. Your taste buds will change after while and you'll like everything.

Good Luck  and Congratualtions on taking this Journey with us ;)

Well... Somehow I just lost my post, but Julie just said what I had typed. See the Lean Cuisine section for tips on adjusting the food to your tastes. Gives things a 2nd try if you don't like them the first time - even if you have to wait a few weeks. Your tastes WILL change.

Good luck!

Hi Neeko,

Welcome to the board. Where on earth do you surf in Texas? The Gulf Coast?

Joelie..thanks for the welcome! I have been reading the forum alot the past couple of days and it looks so fun, not to mention motivating! I can't wait to get started! :bouncieball:

Have no fear of the shakes and bars. The shakes, especially the vanilla you can make into any flavor you want with Sugar free syrups, and sugar free fat free puddings. Adding the pudding has become my new favorite afternoon treat. The bars tast NOTHING like other protein bars I have had. They too are like a special treat.

Give them all a shot and if you don't like something try doctoring it up, if not trade for what you find you do enjoy.

Good luck
Aphrael

Patti..yup..the gulf coast..good ole corpus christi waves! well...sometimes. The waves aren't that great here..but when we do get some decent one's..we sure do know how to appreciate them! It's a blast though..big waves or not.

Hi aphrael..thanks! I don't think I will have a tough time with the shakes..I was getting kind of worried about the bars..but will definitely give them a shot! Trading sounds like a good idea...will probably be trading the soups...since I don't like anything other than Ramen..lol..told you I was picky!

Neeko, welcome! Also realize that tastes can change DRASTICALLY on this program. I am a lifelong oatmeal-hater, and yet the past few weeks I've fallen in love with the stuff and can't get enough. In the beginning, I hated the puddings, but now they're a nice treat every night.

Visit the Lean Cuisine section for ways to doctor up the packets. And if all else fails, try some products again a little further down the road. You might surprise yourself!

I will be visiting good ol' Corpus this weekend. Nothin little bout the waves there on a windy day like today huh? I am sure that in no time you will be out catchin em with no problem at all. I feel you on the picky part but trust me just visualize yourself on those waves lookin like a total babe and you will make yourself eat the products. They really aren't that bad and the shakes are super yummy! Good Luck and great to have you on board!

Hi Neeko,

I condider myself one of the pickiest eaters alive. If it wasn't bread, crackers, chips or potatoes; I didn't want to have anything to do with it. I was really nervous about the MF food but have been pleasantly surprised at the taste. I've been on the program eight weeks now and look forward to my MF meals more than my Lean & Green now. As so many have said before, check out the Lean Cuisine Section. So many inventive people on this Forum willing to share their discoveries of ways to "spice up" the MF packets.

Keep us posted on your progress. I know you are going to do great!!

NEEKO,

Welcome to the MakeMeThinner Forum. Following Medifast will definitely MakeYouThinner! Guaranteed by all of us on this board if you follow the program. :hi5:

It will take some work and imagination to create the foods you will love on this program. :eat: I'm not an MF salesperson or an MF stock holder, but I am SOLD on MF, because it works for me! :yay:

And we promise to help you do it...because we're all in this boat together! :3head: Glad to have you,

Lizabette
