Help!!!! CD-ROM issues

Postby bikipatra » July 25th, 2007, 3:43 am

While my computer was still under warranty in February, our CD-ROM stopped recognizing any disk placed it it, either music, programs or picture disks. I went through what seemed like hours of trouble shooting until they determined it was a hardware issue and sent a technician to replace it. Now, out of warranty, the problem is happening again. It worked fine for 5-6 months and when you try to use a disk it says please insert disk into drive A, doesn;t recognize drive D, just like it did before. I am Googling trying to find some solutions but please help if you can. My virus scan is up to date and there are no other issues with the machine. Oh, in safe mode it recognizes the CD-ROM drive.

That happens to me and sometimes it helps to reseat the CD, but it's so annoying. I think I just have a bumb CD drive. Good news is that they're cheap to replace.

That wasn't even working. I found a simple exe file on the internet that cured the problem. I found a lovely picture of myself in a bathing suit in PR. My stomach was SO huge. I had to post it as a gratitude pic.

Can't help exactly but I know Di had a recent issue of having her new computer not recognizing the DVD-ROM drive. We took it to the Geek Squad and they found that the driver was not found... so, we rebooted from March and the problem was solved.
I've never had any issue like this with my Mac's

Hope you get this figured out though. ;)
Pre WLS 460
Low after WLS 300
Start of MF 350
Previous MF low 280
Restart MF 330

I figured it out. It was just a small CD-DVD executable file that I saved offf the internet, ran and it fixed the problem. I have tried restores but no help.
