HELP Nancy, Tim, Mike, anybody!~

Postby LongWay2go » August 11th, 2004, 4:29 am

Ok, I know I shouldn't have, but the temptation was too great. It was just staring at me from across the kitchen and I couldn't resist. Chaulk it up to morning weakness but it CALLED to me! Resistance was futile...I stepped on the scale. I know, I know, its only starting day 6 for me, but I couldn't resist. I am weak. I stepped on my enemy, Mr. Scale and he bit back. He told me I've lost 12 pounds already and I've only finished day 5. I know he lied. I stepped off, wiped the sleep from my eyes, and mounted him again. Still, he insists I've lost 12 pounds.

Is this normal? Is this ok? I mean, I am a BIG FAT man, so maybe this is to be expected. I can't see my doctor until my appointment next week but I need help NOW! Help me?

Woo hoo--yay for you Gerald :)!

Nope, your eyes are not deceiving you. I lost 16lbs my first week and I'm female. Your first week loss might even end up being 20+lbs! Of course, males lose faster than females and the heavier a person is, the faster they lose weight, so your loss is definitely on par.

I am a complete scale junky myself--thinking about getting it out of my house!
Keep up the great work Gerald ... I told you, you are going to lose like a madman :cleader:!

Thanks Sheryl!

Wow, 16 the first week? That's AWESOME for a female! At this rate (2.5 pounds a day) I'll lose 17 the first week. Unfortunately I won't be able to weigh in Friday morning (end of week 1) because I'm going out of town over night on Thursday. :x

But my plan was to wait until Sunday anyway, so I can track weekly progress on Sunday's like others in the group. That would give me a 9 day week 1 though - what do you think I should do?

Why could this not be expected? Look where you came from, what ever you ate in the past, all of a sudden like a brick off your shoulders, and no more inserting bricks in your mouth, you are eating healthy, not to mention virtually 0 calories, just enough to keep you alive, and your brain functioning. A miracle? Perhaps. Soon, your tune of referring to yourself as a FATMAN will be gone. No more “BIG G” as you referred to in another post. This I know, it haunted me for many moons, “hey big guy”, “hey your largeness” well no more… This is the bomb ‘eh? Yep, it’s expected, and as long as your faithful, which with speaking to you off line here, I know you WILL be, your going to be tossing your cane in the trash, and shopping gleefully as I do for “regular” guy clothes. It NEVER gets old!!!

YES – EXPECT IT!

Gerald, maybe you can just switch your official weigh in day to Sundays?

A nine day first week? Sounds fine to me! Some people even only do monthly weigh ins, so I don't think the precise, per week weight loss/weighing is too big of a deal.

And Mike,
This is the bomb ‘eh?
I agree--this is the bomb :D!

Hi Mike! Get that email problem worked out yet? Thanks for your support, as always! I just didn't expect this much, but then I've never NOT cheated before either! I'm actually having fun with this!

My concern was because I seem to remember in OptiFast being told that 10 pounds a week on the full fast was VERY good. So 12.5 in only 5 days worried me a little.

At this rate (I'll ask my doctor about this next week) I might just do the full fast for 8 weeks, then switch to a modified fast for the next 8 to allow my body to adjust. Then go back to full fast. Any medical experts out there with thoughts on that?

Sheryl,

Yeah, I think you're right, I will switch it to Sunday's. What kind of a boost to the ego would that be! At my current rate, that would put me at a 22.5 pound loss for my first week (albeit really 9 days).

Hoopla, hoopla, hoopla!!! :hi5:

switch to a modified fast … then go back to full fast. Any medical experts out there with thoughts on that?

From a “non Medical expert”, but a Tried-True-Tested-Medifast-Professional one:

Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke, I always say. Yours appears to be working quite well?!?!

Gerald,

Before trying MF, I went to a local hospital that has a very well respected weight loss program that is very similar to MF. Their web site featured a story on a man who was near your starting weight, had lost almost 200 pounds as I recall, and was still going strong on the full fast many months later. Their rule of thumb was that as long as you are averaging an 8 pound loss every 4 weeks there was no reason to go off the full fast unless you wanted to.

I will check to see if the story about this man is still there and if so will send you a PM with the link. I found it very inspiring and hope you will too.

Your Thinness ~

We are so thrilled for you, Gerald! Yeah, your scales are right-on!! You rock, Man! :kool:

No problem about having a 9 day weigh-in on Sunday. It'll work just fine.

We celebrate each yucky nasty yellow fat globule that melts away.

What a day when you toss that cane!

We will seriously have to consider having an in-person celebration of all the MakeMeThinner Forum friends in the future.

Here's to your success, Gerald! :cleader:

Thanks guys!

Nancy - you know, I was thinking last night that it would be nice to do a yearly meeting (vacation) kind of thing all together. Something to think about!

Absolutely!

I take Paypal, by the way.

I think they accept airline fares as well.

What's this PayPal stuff all about, Mikey?

Well, I wanna go to Mouseland and to CA Adventureland! Or maybe to Orlando...

I wanna go on the rides! Because I can!

Oooh....just thinkin' of it makes my spike hair cut spikier! Ahh...the Hotel Tower of Terror, the Rock n' Roller Coaster...

Okay, Kids! What's your vote? When?
