Hello- starting day 5!

Postby Rxangel » February 26th, 2005, 8:16 am

Just wanted to say hi! My husband and I started Tuesday and we both have over 100 lbs to lose so we are doing the full fast program. So far he has lost 14 lbs and I have lost 5 lbs. We find this hard still- I've read several posts that say its better after day 3 but we're now on day 5 and still craving food. We are pressing on because of the great weight loss we've seen just in the first few days!!

Have a great weekend!!

Good news and bad news. I dont' think those cravings ever go away, BUT, they do get less intense! Pay attention to what your body tells you. I find myself wanting to eat something, anything. But if I step back for a minute, I can realize that I am not really hungry... I just want what I can't have (for now). Well, I always thought I couldn't have that thin, healthy body ever again... but I CAN and I will. Cause I want that more than I want pizza or brownies. Those foods WILL be there forever... but I will NEVER be thin if I eat them now. Be willing to wait. In the mean time, you are learning good choices, portion control, and with each day, you get the extra bonus of being just a bit healthier and closer to goal. Just for today, eat to lose. Tomorrow... well... IF we are here tomorrow, we can make a goal for that day as well.

Welcome! Wow! 19 pounds lost between the two of you - awesome!

I understand about the craves...head hunger is there for a while. If you are truly hungry, have another shake - it will not interfere with ketosis.
Nothing tastes as good as thin feels...

Thanks Nancy and Karen for your support. We're just focusing on a day at a time! My body doesn't need the pizza but my mind does- it's trying to overcome the mind that will be our battle.

Thanks! :D

I am right there with ya girlfriend, my mind sure would like some pizza, fried chicken, french fries Okay I gotta quit. But I keep telling myself once I am skinny I can eat anything I want in moderation and then I will exercise it off. Good Luck, you guys can do this.

RxAngel, My food of choice is pizza and brownies. My hubby went to walk the dog the other night and was gone for an hour. Come to find out, he had gone for pizza, taken it to the park, and stayed there to eat it. (he is one of those types that can eat ANYthing and not gain weight). I appreciated his thoughtfulness of not bringing it here to eat, but I felt kind of bad that he couldn't bring pizza into his own home. We laughed about it! But I know (and he knows) I am not ready to be trusted around pizza. One day, I will get ONE slice of pizza, and take it to the park to enjoy and that will satisfy me. I bake cakes and pies and cookies for him and the kids, that doesn't bother me....but I CANNOT do brownies. I tend to eat them by the panful. I will have to learn to deal with this one somehow, being diabetic, I don't need the brownies even when I am not "dieting". I have managed to get off all 3 of my "sugar medicine" pills, and I don't intend to go back on them. Along with the medifasting, I am using this time to plan HOW I will eat when I get back to "real" food. Many, many, many changes are going to be needed when I get to goal, if I intend to stay at goal. I don't want to go back to my old ways.

Talking about Pizza! On Friday (day 4) I was at work and they had 6 Pizza Hut pizzas delivered. Pizza Hut is my favorite- if it was Dominos or Papa John's it would not have tempted me as much. Of course my desk was right beside where they opened all the boxes and the smell was driving me insane. I stayed strong and called my husband for support. It has been my biggest victory so far. It did make me feel good that I could resist- but I don't want to be tested like that again.

UGH! Torture! GREAT job on staying strong!

Yeah, the lure of Pizza Hut can be very strong! I worked in one for 6 months in 1993 and put on 30 pounds, 160 to 190! One "perk" of being a waitress there was a free personal pan pizza daily plus any leftovers off the buffet at lunch. Gah! I porked out and once I tried on my old non-stretch jeans I knew I had some serious gain, but up till then, just thought it was a bit of fat squeezed on.

Good for you - you can do this! (Just think of your coworkers' arteries clogging up and their fat cells swelling up... yuck!)

Rx Angel....A BIG WELCOME...how sweet that both you and your husband are Medifasting together...My husband has NEVER needed a diet (even after his heart transplant being on prednisone..which increases your weight) and has always been the type to have a brownie sundae at 11:00 and then go to bed..oh well...God made us all different with different gifts (a fast metabolisim was never a gift of mine)....But MEDIFAST TO THE RESCUE...no need for a fast metabolisim...those lbs. will come off each and everyone of us as we shake them off together  ..so here's to you for a great journey
