hello from Oregon

Postby Mikonica » September 13th, 2007, 9:29 pm

Hello I almost 36 yrs old and I am on week three. I started out great! I have struggled the last week after returning from vacation. I have lost almost 20 pounds as of today. I am going to keeping going. A dear friend of mine, past away in July. She had complications from her B. Gastric Surgery. I had been going through the steps to qualify from my insurance when this happened. I will not be going down that road now. So that has modivated me into loosing weight. Plus I have two young daughters that need their mom to be here and see them grow to be wonderful adults. My husband is supportive. We have been married, going on 14 years in November. I hope to make new friends here. I have been lurking, and reading posts for over a week before I felt, I could jump in and say Hi!
I hope you all have a nice weekend!

Hi, Becky ~

Welcome and we are glad that you introduced yourself to us.

Congratulations on your weight loss - 20 pounds is great. I understand how hard it is to come home from vacation and face reality again! Many of us feel sort of a let-down once we unpack the suitcases and are faced with the rigors of meal preparation, the rat-race, etc.

You have such admirable reasons to lose weight – how blessed you are to have such a special family. That’s cool you will celebrate 14 years of marriage in a short time; congratulations to you both! Moms have a big responsibility because our attitudes about food and self-image can easily be picked up by our children, esp. if we have daughters.

Becky, it must hurt to have lost such a good friend. When we are young (and you ARE young!), we do not expect to have our friends pass away and the nature of your friend’s death is tragic. Your sorrow and loss are still fresh – hugs to you. We hope the information and help you find here at MakeMeThinner will assist you in your decision to approach your weight and health needs.

Hang in there, Becky!

Hi Becky,

I am another fellow Oregonian - and I love it here. I was born and raised in New England so the change of seasons makes my new england blood very happy!

Welcome to M/F. I am so glad you to have you here. My Uncle in the Bay Area had gastric bypass and has had nothing but problems. In fact he has lost too much weight - and all of the enthusiasm we hope to have for a good life.

I have lost and gained the same 100 pounds 3 times and enough is enough!! I can honestly say that not only am I not able to tolerate a big meal, I feel completely satisfied on the M/F products.

The folks on this forum are just 100% the best! I restarted my journey in July and am just shy of my 40 pound mark!! :D

So stick with us and let us know how you are doing! We all care!!

Wow! So many Oregonians! What a small world.

The Irish side of my family all live in Oregon (my daddy and his folks). We have our ranch up for sale right now since all of my grandma's cowboy brothers are in there 90s  I have great memories of Oregon. I visited every summer for the whole summer as a child.

I love this forum and I know you will too. I can't believe you lost your friend that way. Now I feel bad for mentioning the idea to my friend long ago.

Welcome!
