Hi everyone, I've just unpacked my box of MF goodies and am starting Saturday morning...I'm excited and nervous, but feel very optimistic about what I can acheive over the next few months. I'd love to hear any words of wisdom from you experienced people out there to help me on my way.

thanks!

Hi and welcome I read the recipes on here for hours and wrote down things I liked and made a list and tried a lot of them, it gives you something to look forward to and stay excited about the diet.

...for making me feel so welcome. I think that the support forum is going to be a great help to me...and I need all the help I can get!

In the past I've battled my weight without any outside support and this could well be the reason why the weight has always beaten me. But this time feels very different. Looks like the forum is going to be a regular haunt for me from now on, so have a great day and see you soon.

Here's a bit more about me

Postby mfkitten » September 30th, 2005, 9:15 am

I'm 38 and moved from the UK to California with my husband 3 years ago. I really love my life and feel very blessed, but my weight issues have hounded me since being a young teen. I know I use food as a emotional crutch and that has been particularly true in recent times as my best friends are in the UK and while we email and phone, I miss having the mutual support and understanding close at hand...I feel quite lonely much of the time I think and so the fridge has really become my best friend!
I'm a true yo-yo dieter and have lost the same 20lbs many, many times. At my heaviest I was 210 and that was just before moving to the U.S. Since then I've lost and regained and am as of this morning 181. My goal is to reach 130, but much more importantly I feel, that having reached the goal, I need to learn how to stay there...this is something that had eluded me up until now. I'm an all or nothing kind of girl and I want to learn the meaning of balance and control and find other ways deal with my emotions rather than turning to the potato chips.

I truly believe that all things are possible with a little help and so I'm really looking forward to a life-changing experience with MF, so I can move on once and for all.

Thanks for listening,
kitten

Welcome Kitten, When I started medifast I bought the most wonderful book...Life is Hard Food is Easy by Linda Spangler. It has helped me sooooooo much w/ emotional eating and more. I feel so in control now with me eating. It is a wonderful tool. I believe that this time, I WILL keep the weight off!!!! I learned a lot about myself reading this book. This forum is another WONDERFUL savior. When I feel week or discouraged...I read and read and feel strength again!!! Glad you are here..Sara

For me, it was a little difficult the first few days...I have a Health Advisor who has been a God Send to me and she kept telling me...just get thru the first few days and then one morning you will wake up and feel fantastic and being on the program will be so easy.

I thought it important to add this experience, because she was so right. After the second day, for me...it seemed hard and I wanted to give up but I put full trust in my Health Advisor and took her advice and she was right...by the 3rd or 4th day I was fine. You may not experience this at all....but if you do, just hang on because it gets so easy after the first few days...

Great Advice

Postby mfkitten » October 2nd, 2005, 8:46 am

thanks everyone for your encouraging words, I really appreciate it. I'm on day 3 now and feeling very good, I'm sure due in part to your great support...it''s so good to know I'm not going through this alone. Haven't weighed myself since I started although I'm very keen to....I imagine I should wait a full week before I do - hope I can wait that long for some good news!

have a great Sunday,

kitten

Hey Kitten

Just thought I would share some "insight" with you about the scale...if your anything like me...the scale can ruin my day!! what I mean is...when I did medifast the first time...I learned pretty quick NOT to weigh myself daily..or even every few days...the numbers fluctuate so much that It would discourage me!! most weigh themselves once a week...pick a day...and weigh yourself at the same time, same day...NAKED in your birthday suit!! :) I decided what was best for me after a few weeks...was to pick out a pair of pants ...I used to call them my Green goal pants...and try them on every 2 weeks...and see my progress from my clothes....I then only weighed in once a month..on the first of every month...because as I said...I could feel the weight coming off in my clothes..but I was afraid I wouldnt see the numbers moving down fast enough!! I will weigh myself once a week for the first month...so make sure I am loosing....and to see how the scale is going..but after that...its back to the pants and weighing only once a month for me.....I tend to let the "numbers" rule me at times..and with all the water we drink...with our menstral cycles..and all the weight fluctuations...I find its better to just go by how you feel...how your clothes are fitting..than hopping on the scale too often!!!

its Day 2....happy shakin!! Im doing a 12 weeks to christmas countdown...want to join me? my goal is to loose 20 pounds in 12 weeks...if its more than that...then GREAT!! but my goal is to be 155 by then!! :)

Tami ;)

Love the goal pants idea!

Postby mfkitten » October 2nd, 2005, 9:56 am

Thanks Tami,

I have just the pair that have been lurking in the back of the closet since the beginning of the year...don't know what I was thinking when I bought a size 8...they have never fitted me...a severe case of over-optimism/delusion I think!

Yes, I love the idea of a Christmas countdown...so count me in for that. Losing 20lbs by then would be a great way to start 2006. So to that end, I'm putting the scales in the garage, so I won't be tempted to jump on them every time I visit the bathroom and see them lying there.

Here's to a very slinky Christmas!
