Hello to all... Of course I'm starting on New Years Day !

Postby ktrout » January 1st, 2006, 8:20 pm

I'm a 44 year old male and I've battled weight all my life. I'm looking to lose about 135 lbs one pound at a time. I lost 70+ on a low carb life style a couple years ago but have once again gained enough to put me at an all-time high weight of 310 lbs. I'll try to keep everyone informed and I'll get a couple pictures off to be included in the galllery.

Welcome aboard
The forum members well be more than happy to help you along your journey. You will part with the pounds quite quickly. Men are very lucky in that they seem to lose faster than we do. Keep letting us know how you're doing --we promise we won't pout when we read about your big losses.

Welcome to you, ktrout ~

We are so happy to have you aboard. Posting a picture of yourself will not only serve as an incentive to others but will mean that you have reached a point where you are committing to yourself to reach a healthy weight. Your picture will inspire others and spur yourself on to post your ‘at goal’ photo.

While men may lose weight a bit faster than women, they still have to face the same daily struggles that women do – breaking old foody habits, choosing to temporarily set aside the things one likes to eat and to consciously plan ahead what one will eat and then to actually do it. Ktrout, we expect to be seeing less of you very soon!

OK, I started Monday, I've been following the 5+1 militantly and I'm down 11LBS in 4 days?! How long can I expect this to last ? The hunger pangs are milder than I thought they would be and the food is prety good although I think I'll pass on the Chili on the next care package.

How long can I expect this to last?

:scratchhead: What?

The weight loss?

It will keep on keeping on as long as you remain :lightsword: militant, ktrout!

The :easyrider: SPEED of your weight loss?

Most likely not at this same rate. Sor-ry! :couch:

But you WILL lose weight, most every week you will lose 3 or more pounds.

Remain :deadhorse: militant.

It is worth it and your weight loss will be rather consistent.

At the 40-50 pound mark, you may have a week or two (or three) where your weight loss slows down and then it will pick up again. The last 10 pounds or so may cling awhile. They like livin’ there and  love ya so!

Isn't this great? Now don'tcha wish you had started a long time ago?

Not into the chilli? I haven't gotten my package yet, but I already have that feeling about anything with the words coffee or mocha in it. Next time I plan on choosing the ones I want not just ger the whole package of mixed stuff. I shall soon see.

Ktrout Wow you are off to a great start! I hear ya about the chili the first time i was on program I thought it was gross and tried to pawn it off on my husband  but some one here told me about the salsa trick (2 tsp i think of the low cal kind) and letting it sit in cold water for about 15 minutes before I nuke it add some chili powder and pepper and it is actualy good. I do better with the warm meals as i seem to get cold during the first few weeks.

Read the Lean Cuisine for ideas to make that chili.

It is really very good IF ya follow my suggestion to simmer it on the stovetop or to prepare it the night or morning before you want to eat it. Those beans need to be soaked or it will be Dental Appointment time!

I agree Nancy - making it the night before really helps. I also add a little salsa and some spices and it is great! I am cold all the time and really prefer the warm stuff now too - it is tough to drink a shake when you are shivering!

Welcome ktrout - look forward to seeing you around the forum - albeit less of you considering how quickly you lost those 11 lbs! Congrats! :D

I'm going to try a few of your hints to pump up the chili and minestrone soups. It's gotta make them better ! Had a great day at work and may have a couple converts on my team.
