One is the green slacks I was wearing when I had my car accident on October 30, 2002. I gained about 35 pounds as a result of forced inactivity following that accident, and I want to wear them again. They were new at the time -- was probably only the third or fourth time I had worn them, and I miss them! Fitting into them is probably only ten pounds away at this point. Actually, I tried them on last night, and I can zip and button them, but they are too tight to wear still.

The second is the infamous "black jeans" that date back to my law school days (I graduated in 1983, so . . . ). They aren't really anything I'd wear anymore, but I keep them around to motivate me when I am trying to lose weight. They are probably 30-35 pounds away.

The third is something I never actually have worn. It's a lovely pale pink silk suit -- skirt and jacket -- with an Oriental flair to it. I bought it at Lord & Taylor's in NY in 1995 because it was on sale and at that time I had just lost 50 pounds on WW and figured that with another 10 pounds it would fit perfectly. I think it's a size 18, but a "real" 18, not an 18W or some such. I think that suit is probably 50 pounds away. I love it, and I WILL wear it at least once. It'd be nice to be able to fit into it this summer.

That suit represents the smallest I've ever been as an adult, so I don't have anything sitting in my closet beyond that to shoot for. I do think it would be wonderful to have to get rid of everything in my closet (except I LOVE my black suede jacket!) and start over!

Green slacks? Check, and they are now too big. :D

Black jeans? Check, and they are loose, on their way to being too big.

Um, there's a problem with the pink silk suit.

I've carted that d***ed suit around for ten years, from East Coast to West Coast and through two moves of house. The silly thing still has the original tags on it -- $168 marked down to I think it's $99.

I tried it on last night, and it actually, finally fits. It fits nicely -- I can wear it!

So what's the problem?

It looks terrible on me. It's a beautiful suit, it's still pink, and silk, and with the subtle shadings on it, but the color is just NOT for me. It washes me out completely. I need stronger color. Good thing it will be too big for me in a month or two, huh?

Bleh. Anybody want a size 18W (runs small, since I'm now wearing LB 14/16) Lord and Taylor pink silk suit??

24 Karat ~

I am smiling as I write this because I had saved just a few clothing items from a long-ago one day thinner experience myself. I have no idea why I did save them because after so many flabby years, I had given up hope of ever really being able to wear them again but I saved them. When I got to their size, they looked lousy - out of style, outdated fabric or color but I wore them anyway and I felt so smug and gladsome in my heart of hearts just because I COULD.

I am reliving my days of reaching various stages of shrinkage as I read your post, 24 K and reflect on all the others. Isn't this the best day? Isn't this a glorious time to live? We have a special food product that helps us to be successful and to fit into life a bit more normally.

Wear a vibrant fuschia silk flower or pin on the collar of your pink silk suit - and a bold belt to define your waistline. Put a temp rinse on your hair and wear lots of blush and bright lip color and eye color. Impress them and yourself for a job being done well!

Cool dresses

Postby Jan » April 28th, 2005, 10:55 am

Those dresses sound really cool. I gave all my skinny clothes away. I pretend that I was very generous -- but I think I thought they would be waaay out of style by the time I fit back into them :x Now I have to endure :D :D :D being called "mrs Baggy Pants" at the local Starbucks!! ((I'm only part way to my goal ) Visiting with miss slim leopard lady at Starbucks inspired me to begin with and now she and her also slim hubby are threatening to send me to Goodwill :? :?

Just got rid of my skinny clothes, should have waited until I decided to order the plan. Shame on me. Maybe I will go to the thrift store and buy them all back.
