I HATE Shopping!!

Postby supermom » June 26th, 2006, 1:54 pm

I have a wedding to attend on July 21. It is my cousin. It will be semi formal. I am thinkin about a halter style dress---casually elegant, but comfy. My high school reunion is also that weekend, I will be leaving the wedding and going straight to the dance at the country club---it is DEFINITELY not formal, so thus the need for something casual, but still classy. I HATE shopping. My hubby is gone almost all the time with his work. That means I take all 3 sons shoppin with me. YUCK!! I have been shoppin online. What is the deal??? Do companies really think all women wear a C cup and have a 25 inch waist? Even when I shop in plus size, I have to get it too big to accomodate my bust, then it looks awful everywhere else. Anyone sew?? Quickly?? I NEED HELP!!! I can sew, quite well, actually. My machine has taken a big ol healthy <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_14_2.gif" alt="Bear Pooping In Woods" border="0"> and, I just don't have time, so I just won't be able to get it done. I will pay someone for help. The dress type I really like is the halter style with a flowing skirt, or the 30's style with the swing bottom and puffy sleeves.

I can sew buttons on a shirt when the buttons fall off

How about a skit/top combo then you can get sizes that fit the appropriate areas. I personally hate shopping, too, so I can't object to that statement too much.

I feel like I look chopped in half when I wear skirts and tops. What I am lookin for is a swing dress. Some people call it a circle skirt. It is the rockabilly style dress. They have some really cute stuff at stopstaring dot com, but not to fit. My bust is just too big. I guess I could just duct tape em down!!

Here's a thought... Why don't you get the dress you LOVE that fits you in the boobs and find a great tailor to have the rest fitted to your body.

I can't sew and I have the same problem. Everything I love fits in one place and not all over. If you decide to do this, make sure you get a recommendation for a great tailor that can make your deadline.

Good luck, whatever you decide everything will work out for the best

That's a good idea. They say that on What Not To Wear all the time. Spend the money on a good piece you like and get it tailored. It will be worth the money in the long run.

You can just pretend they gave you a Visa card for $5000 and a makeover, too.
