I Hate Shoes

Postby alpha femme » June 25th, 2006, 8:31 pm

i just don't like them.

now, i wear them of course, because only special places have "no shirt, no shoes, no problem" on their doors....
but i really prefer to feel the ground i walk on.
it's just hell on my feet.

any suggestions to keep them healthy?

anyone else not like shoes?

 by the way, i like the way they look... just prefer feeling connected with the earth. all of my shoes are getting odly loose these days anyway.

on the other hand, i have a friend who does not like underwear. it could be worse!

I love good sneakers, because they make me feel bouncy. But I hate most other shoes. And I swore a few years ago that I wouldn't wear pantyhose again, although I did for job interviews. But even if I get married, I swear I will NOT wear them to the wedding.

I'm right there with ya. I hate wearing shoes, and I hate wearing panty hose even more. I just don't like for my feet to feel confined. That's one nice thing about Texas. I can wear sandals almost all year round, when I'm forced to wear shoes.

I have a footbath that I use almost weekly. Mary Kay makes these things called foot fizzies that you drop in and it helps soften your feet. They are great.

I only wear shoes when I leave the house (or to get rid of a pesky insect!).

I use a product by Philosophy called Soul Owner. It keeps the feet free of callouses and is also a mosturizer.

Twice a week a slather a pretty thick coat of udder butter on my feet and sleep with cotton socks on. Works for me!! I also treat myself to a pedicure every other week to keep my nails neat. I like the massage, too. I don't like shoes either. Never have. I wear flip flops almost always. There is a place here that sells flip flop soles. Maybe you have seen them. They are really soft and spongy. You just lay them down on the floor and step on them. Your feet stick to them. It doesn't feel sticky, and it doesn't leave your feet yucky. It is like walkin around barefoot with a little sponge between your feet and the ground. I LOVE them. Especially at the lake. I can be protected from the HOT sand and the rocks, and not get those pesky little flip flop tan lines. They come in all colors. If you are interested, I could pick up a pair for you and send em your way. I think they are about 7 bucks. It has been a while since I bought mine. They last FOREVER!!!

Other than a bi-weekly pedicure the best thing I have found for my tootsies is a product by Eucerin called Aquaphor. Slather it on your feet before bed, cover with a pair of socks and you will wake up with the softest feet ever! :D
It's been swell but the swelling's gone down...

Regarding the sticky flip flops, I found some online for $14.50. They are a little higher than the ones available here, but they look a little thicker and there is a better variety. You can do a search for "topless sandals" if anyone is interested. I really LOVE them!!

Hi, a pair of Alisa 'Keds', a comfortable pair of flats, and a pair of hard-soled 'Minnetonka' mocassins and I am good to go. Shoes come off the minute I am inside. Florida is casual, and so am I!

I hate shoes too. I am a diabetic and have to take care of my feet. I have gotten somewhat used to just wearing cotton socks around the house. I have a balance problem on our hilly property, and shoes make it worse. I wear thick wool socks outside when I do yardwork or mow. I am more comfortable and my feet grip the ground better. I use Cetaphil for sensitive skin on my feet, plus I scrub my feet with a foot brush once a week. My feet have stayed healthy with this routine.

I love to go barefoot, except when the ground is hot. Like now!! The asphault is too hot in the summer. Seriously, I had plantar fasciitis a few years back and the podiatrist made me wear these heavy tennis shoes with arch supports all the time. I ahted it and I couldn't do it. My feet hurt so bad, but I couldn't stand to have my feet cooped up in those hot shoes. Finally a website turned me onto Berkinstock's and the fact that if you wear them constantly it would help my PF. I was cured after 6 months of continual wear. I know that sounds like a long time, but I had the PF super bad for 3 years. Now I try to always wear shoes with good arch support if I'm gonna be on my feet for a long time.

Ooh, the Berkies didn't help my plantar fasciitis at all. The only that's helped is Nike Shox, which my doc recommended. They've made a world of difference.

I'm always barefoot at home, but never outside. But a pair of Nikes and my cowboy boots, and I'm good to go. I HATE having to dress up and wear nicer shoes.

And I'm going tomorrow for my very first pedicure ever. I hope I'm not so ticklish that I kick the poor woman.
