I agree, for the calorie count I don't know where you would find a more nutritious food.

Well, I'm sure everyone has an opinion on this...
While I do think Medifast offers a way to lose weight and keep a some what balanced vitamin intake , I also feel the vitamins are not naturally occuring vitamins. We are eating pre-packaged meals that have been processed and are using "Sugar Substitutes" that are wrought with controversy. Other then my Medifast supplements I stay away from Splenda and Equal because of other health factors. The meals also contain preservatives, which are not good for our bodies. So for me, I had to weigh (pun intended :D ) out the good vs. the bad.

I am under the opinion that this is a temporary way to lose weight and change my eating habits for life. I don't think it is healthy to eat prepackaged meals for the rest of MY life...I've emphasized "MY" because that is my opinon based on what I know about nutrition and what I want. This is a personal choice. If you chose to use Medifast meal replacements for the rest of your life, that is your choice and I respect that.

Thanks, Laura. I have just spent so many years putting garbage in my mouth that a little additive here or there doesn't concern me. I choose to believe that the MF products are much better than other choices out there and are definately better than the fast food/fried foods/candy/cookies/buttered popcorn....well you get the idea....

Either way, we'll all be dead in a hunderd years or so. :mrgreen:

Ok, my problem is that i'm NOT compliant!! I haven't lost as much weight as I've wanted to. Yes, i'm exercising, and yes that is why it isn't showing on the scale, but I have a real problem doing the whole program.

I guess i'm being defiant. I am compliant for a little while and then I never use all my supplements for the day and I think that is my problem. If I'm not hungry I don't have them. There are days I live on 5 supplements...then I exercise and then I wonder why I blow it!!

Part of me just wants to do 6 supplements a day...can I do that? If I can't I have to be so very , very compliant and get all my supplements in and my L & G. I think i'm hindering my weightloss because i'm going from one extreme to another.

anyone reading this have the same problem? I get to a point when I'm compliant that I'm not really hungry. If I'm busy the supplements are great, I don't even have to think about it. But then I start thinking, well, If I don't eat, I'll just lose weight quicker...wrong!! so wrong!!

ok, enough whining...let the tongue lashings commence!!....

I truly never felt hunger after the first week on Medifast. I had to eat every three hours. I had to remind myself to eat because the physical symptoms were suppressed.....ah the miracle of Medifast!

Even now, I don't count on hunger to tell me when to eat. I still eat every 3 hours. I truly don't feel hunger because I don't let myself get ravanous. My blood sugar stays constant and I don't have the urgency to eat. I used to be so proud of myself for going all day without eating not understanding that it was setting me up for binge behavior. No more. I eat my breakfast, lunch, snack, snack, dinner, snack almost every day. That's what has worked for me anyway.

LOL, no tongue lashings from me! You sound like you are working it all out for yourself on how you want to proceed. Everyone makes their own decisions based on what our history is. I'm like Jo, my foods before MF was processed (usually what is classified as non-nutritious and junk), high fat, sugary and just not quality. I would choose quantity over quality if given an option (bag of cheetos versus an apple.......hey, the cheetos would win----a pizza versus a salad and chicken breast? Pizza without a moment's hesitation). The diet would always be started tomorrow and I always had a reason for not sticking to healthy foods (I'm stressed, I'm tired, so & so was mean/hurtful/nasty to me, I want this and deserve it, everyone else eats like this, why should I be punished by having to abstain from it). I had a warped mindset where cutting back on quantity and type of food was deprivation, not moving towards a healthier body & mind.

You eat healthier than I did.......I can understand your desire to just use the MF for as short of a period of time, or as little as you can because you feel that it isn't as healthy of a choice as what you would normally eat.

You just need to continue to evaluate your feelings and your thoughts into your game plan. :D

Following up what Jo and Tawanda said....

You can have just 6 medimeals a day as long as your under strict doctors care. Ask your dr. what they think and make sure to get regular checkups.
The beauty of the 5+1 program is that we aren't just eating medimeals, but we are also learning to make nutritious meals for ourselves so that when we move into maintenance land we will be more successful.
If your focus is to just get weight off without feeling the need to learn how to deal with meals after you lose, then the 6-0 program should work fine for you, as long as your doctor is okay with it.

Laura, I would just warn you that if you do the 6-0, the transition back to regular food is more difficult. It's more of an adjustment and therefore easier to gain back weight. I know this from personal experience. You may have other issues, too (also from personal experience).....let's just say the 5 & 1 keeps things more regular, KWIM?

I can see what you mean. I'm going to do the 5 & 1. I know that I must be compliant. I won't be hungry and i'm going to have to time my meals and make sure I do them.

I just got my next order and I ordered some bars. I hadn't been eating any bars at all.

What is the difference between the regular bars and the diabetic...the carbs look very high for the diabetic bars too. I am exercising very hard , so on days that I exercise I'm going to eat a bar.

Would you believe we all have a terrible stomach virus...here I am trying to be compliant and my poor son is throwing up all over the place , (Talk about appetite suppression). My hubby came home from work early because he is also sick and lets just say everytime I have a Medifast meal i'm heading towards the bathroom. Figures I'd pick today to be compliant and have ALL my Medifast meals!! LOL

Hi Mike,
I'm not under a dr's care for Medifast. The last time I spoke with my dr. about Medifast, which he is in favor of, he won't do the 6 Medifast meal plan unless you have over 100lbs to lose. I only have 40lbs more to lose, so I don't think I'm going to do the 6 meal plan. I definately don't want to eat meal supplements for the rest of my life....so 5 & 1 here I come!!

Sounds like a great plan. The main difference with the diabetic vs. regular bars is the amount of sugar. The diabetic bars do have carbs, but they aren't as high in sugar carbs as the regular bars. The diabetic pnut butter has 0 sugar, choc has 2 sugar. They both have 4 g diet. fiber which leaves 18 net carbs. The regular bars have 10-12 g sugar and about the same number of total carbs.

Personally, I prefer the taste of the diabetic peanut butter bar over the regular one.

Well, I've been completely compliant...Even if I don't have time for my supplements...I get them in. I feel good. I had my first bar today...yummy!! I had the Diabetic peanutbutter bar...oh my...I felt like I was eating candy!!! these could come in handy at certain times of the month.

Too bad Medifast doesn't have an "organic" line.

Tomorrow morning is my weigh-In. Lets see if the scale moves. I've been exercising so I think I'm building muscle. So i'm not going to get dissappointed if it doesn't go down...i'm not, i'm not , i''m not...trying to convince myself.
