Hi Mike,

Thanks for your encouragement...and YES!! Biki should become an HA...she'd do great...I love someone who is honest and doesn't beat around the bush. Most NY'ers like this type of personality. :nana:

Well, today was my last BBQ and I did very well...I'm proud of myself. I don't think the diet coke was a good idea. I don't drink diet soda and yesterday I had my whole house cleaned in less then 2 hours and then had trouble going to sleep. Soda MUST have more caffeine then coffee.

any ideas about the soy and estrogen Mike?

Tomorrow it's water, water and more water for me. My hubby bought me the Air Climber for Mother's day and it just came in. I can't wait to do it. I'm going to try the 20 minute beginners workout...if I find that i'm really hungry then I'll have an extra supplement.
God Bless,
Laura

HappyHomeMaker wrote:I have a question about the Soy Protein in these shakes and supplements. I actually stay away from Soy and soy based products. The processing of the soy is a concern for me. I've been experiencing some , i'll call them hot flashes...and NO i'm not menopausal...i'm only 37.. :D Has anyone else experienced these? Someone mentioned and i've read in my nutritional studies that soy can mess with our estrogen hormones? Anyone know if this is true?

I missed this on the first go around... busy days...

First, to address the processing question: its come up a number of times and Nancy is the expert here. I've researched it myself and found that Medifast uses only the best soy and the best soy processing. Its processed by water washing, instead of acid washing as alot of the soy processors do to get their soy protein isolates. Water washing leaves in all the goodies, and doesn't add any baddies. The brand of soy used is called Supro, and the company is called Solae if you are interested (in conjunction with Du Pont).

As for the hot flashes.... soy is a plant products and it does contain a VERY low level of phytoestrogen. The amount in it is such that you would actually have to consume WAY more than we do on this plan for it to affect you in a positive or negative way. If you are having these difficulties, I would actually suggest checking with your doctor (they are the experts when it comes to your personal health... other than you of course).

Okay, epistle over... we now retun you to your normal programming...

Ok, i'm doing good, but I have such a stressful week ahead of me i'm starting to worry.

My daughter is leaving this Sunday , for a month-long missionary trip. She goes every year. This is her last year because she is a senior,so next year she is going to Texas for a year. Missions studies and to actually do some missions work..then shes going to Pennsicola Christian College...where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday I taught her to read?? :dooh: any who....

When she leaves I do soooooooo much emotional eating it's not funny. I'm better once she gets on the plane...then I do alot of cooking the whole month she's gone. I like to cook and freeze meals. I cook alot of all natural and organic, etc. So cooking and freezing makes it so much easier.

To top that off, I have to drive to JFK airport today to pick up a friend of hers who is going on the missionary trip with her. It's a young lady she went on her trip last year with and they keep in touch. So i'll be driving two hours both ways , which really stresses me out!! I hate driving in the city!!! :x

Did I mention i'm an emotional and stress eater??? I'll be praying to get through today. If I get through this week and stay on plan then i'll be on my wayyyyyy to finally getting rid of this weight!! This week will be a true test!!

I'm planning on bringing my rtd's.
God Bless,
Laura

I really don't think so. A diet coke has 44.6 milligrams of caffeine and a cup of coffee has between 115-175. Maybe that Diet Coke was laced with speed.

How on earth do you know this stuff? Maybe I wasn't use to the Asparatame in it? Either way...it sure got the job done!!

Today was horrible!! I did horrible!!! Talk about stress eating...

It was a worse case senario...traffic all the way to JFK, Traffic on the way home and to top it off...
I got lost in NJ!! I hate, abhor and detest NJ highways and traffic. :x

[Disclaimer:a note to any and all who live in NJ. My opinion is based on a really, really bad day and the fact that whenever I drive through NJ I get lost. Please do not take this personally

While this is going on, I have three teenagers in my car...hungry teenagers..I had to pull over to get directions, so I pulled into a service area. I figured I could get directions and feed the teens.

I totally blew my diet...I ate Burger King!!! ACK!!!! :dooh: Now I feel bloated and sick. I finally made it home and i'm exhausted. I think i'm having a bad reaction to the Burger King.
Wanna here something totally crazy? Before I started Medifast..I NEVER ate Burger King...It's not organic or natural...argggggggggggg I don't know what got into me!!!

Ok, enough whining...I'm going to sleep off this food hangover and start all over tomorrow. I'm going to do my exercise and get right back on the "wagon". If I get right back on then I'll be ok and I'll probably still loose this week.
God Bless,
Laura

Tomorrow is a new day.... ;)

As for the coffee vs. soda caffeine stuff, its called the INTERNET
Biki is good at finding stuff too. Just ask her something and I bet she can find it, and I bet she can find it on EBAY too.... ;)

BTW... Starbucks coffee is overloaded with caffeine.... Grande coffee 350 mg. (decaf= 10 mg) Grande latte 70 mg (35 per shot) Decaf espresso 5 mg per shot.
So, if you want lotsa caffeine... Starbucks is your coffee. Other coffee is about 135-150 mg like Biki said.

Oh my, Laura, this forum is still recovering from a huge burger king discussion awhile back. Just suffice it to say, all meat is not created equal and some should definately be avoided while on Medifast.

Good for you for jumping right back to it.

By the time you made it to Burger King, had you been having a supplement every 2-3 hours and drinking water? That may help us understand what happened.

Today was much better!!

I'm back on track!! I'm feeling much better. I was so bloated last night. I slept and woke up with a "hung-over" feeling. I hate that.

I drank alot of water today. I kept myself very busy and stayed on track.
I didn't get a chance to exercise...I was too busy.

I took my daughter and her friend shopping. They needed to get some last minute items before they both leave for their mission trip. I saw some of the Fall shoes that will be out. Can you believe they are already putting out some Fall items?

That is my motivation...I LOVE the Fall...it's my favorite time of year. I would LOVE to be at my goal weight or close by then. The thought of doing some clothes shopping really excites me.

Hello Everyone, <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_9_10.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D23%252F23_9_10/image.gif">

I am feeling great!! I'm back on track...I feel so much better when I stay on the program. I have to remember this when I feel like eating "Off plan".

Yesterday I ran around and got alot done, so I didn't have time to exercise. We have company here and am getting ready to send my daugher (16) off to Italy and Spain for a month long missionary trip. Needless to say, I'll be busy. <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/13/13_1_200.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D13%252F13_1_200/image.gif">

I hate when she goes...It's always a stressful time for me. I have to say that i'm doing better this year. Last year and the year before was really hard. Last year's was the worst!! She flew over to NewZealand. This year i'm handling it much better. I must be getting use to it.

I have to say that my hubby is very supportive. He doesn't try to tempt me and encourages me to stay on track. He doesn't care about my weight, but he does care about the money I am spending on Medifast...lol
