Hey Laura,

Sounds like you're doing a great job with the exercise. Since working out will become more of habit for you over these next couple of months, it will be so much easier to incorporate into your work/school day once you start back teaching your kids. I'm happy for you that people are noticing your loss, especially after 10 pounds. I'm down 34 and only my mom noticed and that was a month ago. And I remember Biki saying it took something incredible like 60 pounds before people started noticing on her. You must look great :) Keep up the hard work. How's your daughter's mission trip going?

Today I'm doing well. I can't believe how well I'm doing. Even with my planned cheat this weekend. I have to say that Medifast does make it easy. I've had a few times where i've been tempted, but its really not worth it. I feel so great!! I have to remember how I felt when I binged...ewww!! It's like having a food hangover.

Today I went to the farm, which is some mild exercise. After I came home did some cleaning and then i'm going to the gym tonight...woohoo.

Hi Biki and Merry,
Thanks for the encouragement...that is exactly why I want to get to the 10# club, but I"m afraid that is a problem for me.

I'm a little down today. I know that I'm exercising and that this is for me to eat and live a healthy lifestyle, but i'm soooooooooo attached to the scale and what it says.

I like exercising and I know that muscle weighs more then fat...I know this all too well, but I can't help feeling that If I wasn't exercising the scale would have me down 15lbs. I have to stop thinking like this.

As long as i'm sticking to the plan and exercising the weight will come off the scale eventually. I can feel it and I can see it, but the darn scale doesn't want to register it!!

when I do hit the 10# mark, i'm going to do the "happy dance"..LOL
God Bless,
Laura

Don't let it get you down because over the long haul you will be in far better shape than if you did not exercise! :hugblue: Keep in mind that although exercise is not required for the MF program to work, it is recommended!

I've been doing pilates and toning exercises since I began Medifast (well, after 3 the first weeks). I didn't just want to be "thin," I wanted my body to be healthy. Muscle burns calories and raises your metabolism (and a reduced calorie diet lowers metabolism) so a balance is necessary. The down side is what you may be experiencing now--a slower scale. Initially my weight loss was not as fast as others but I think the added muscle tone is helpful to me now in the later stages of the weight loss phase. It's not rocket science--I've not just lost fat. I've lost fat and replaced it with muscle which requires more calories than if that muscle was not there. Simply said, I burn more calories a day (which translates to continued weight loss)! :D

Sometimes people get caught up with the scale and compare their losses with others on the program. We are all individuals and will lose weight differently so comparisons only lead to frustration :brickwall: , IMHO.

If exercising is making you feel good (it did me!) go for it! :weightlift: As you get closer to goal you will be glad you did! :D

Thank you Mary!! That is what I needed a reality check!! I am comparing myself to others weightloss. I've seen women here losing 10lbs their first week and i'm stumped!!

You're right, I'm going to keep on going...tonight I'm going to the gym. I want to get back to where I could eat and I was in such good shape I wouldn't gain weight. I do know that if i'm exercising I can "get away" With alot!! kwim?

Thank you for the encouragment!!
God Bless,
Laura

Not sure if I do know what you mean ... :? Hopefully you are not thinking that adding exercise means that off-plan eating won't negatively affect your weight loss because it can! It can stop or slow down the process (not to mention weight gain! :o ). During this weight loss phase there is more to consider than calories. Carbs are also a factor. Ideally you should be consuming between 800-1000 calories and between 80-85 grams of carbs per day. Your protein consumption is also an important factor--and not something you want to ignore if you are working out!

Have you joined MyMedifast (dot com) or TSFL Support in Motion (dot com)? It's a great place to track your meals and educate yourself about carbs and calories.

Thats not what I meant at all. Only that exercise is the only way to lose and KEEP the weight off. After all I can't drink all my meals forever? At some point I do have to eat healthy and exercise w/o the Medifast supplements.

I am going to check out the websites you gave me, because some days I forget what I've had. Some days I'm short on my supplements, because I forget..LOL

Good! Thanks for the clarification. I agree with you about not wanting to eat out of envelopes forever ... just isn't natural, is it? I'm with you. I want to eat healthy and exercise w/o MF supplements :D

I went to the gym tonight. The class was great, and I was dripping with sweat. The only thing that drives me crazy...is watching myself in those mirrors. I hate seeing how big I've gotten. Talk about motivation!!

I do push myself more in the classes!! I feel good, and I can feel myself getting stronger. I'm going to have to make time even when we're schooling! I'm hoping to have a bulk of my weight off by the time school starts in Sept. but we'll have to wait and see.

I love my MF supplements. (btw, they saved my life) They are nutritious, tasty, low calorie, low fat, low carb. What better way to control your weight than with healthy, lo cal food. I plan to use MF supplements until they aren't available anymore.......heaven forbid!
