Ok, I am not as experienced as most of people here with Medifast, but concerning exercice it's another thing.
First, your idea to bring an extra shake to work is good. I don't see the utility to take 2 shakes just in case. If you feel lightheaded or somethink like that, that's the time IMHO to get an extra shake.
I don't know if you already exercised before, but my suggestion is to start SLOWLY. I would start by 2 or 3 days max of elleptical machine, 15 mins each time. If you feel you need an extra shake, go for it. When you're feeling your workout is too easy, it's time to increase the intensity a bit, like 20 minutes each days.
Be aware that I am not a personal coach or anything of that, these are just tricks I learned with time. If anyone want to develop or correct what I said, just go
Another thing I would say to you is to find a sport you like. I mean if you don't really like elleptical machine and you're doing that only to burn calories, there's a lot of chances you abandon. Try finding something you enjoy, like swimming, walking... You could try martial arts too, it's a very good physic activity: you learn self confidence, concentration and self defence...
