Gum review

Postby Carrie » August 19th, 2004, 1:15 pm

I go in fits and starts with my gum 'chewage', today's one of those days when it's savin' me.

I was really surprised by how good some of the sugarless gum is, I really like these:
Dentyne Fire
Chiclets strawberry breeze
Chiclets citrus samba
Dragonfire
Dentyne wintergreen
Dentyne spearmint

BUT I tried Eclipse Cherry Chill today and it was YUCKY! It's like cough syrup in a gum, BEWARE!

For mints/candies I like s'mint and sqyntz

-but seriously folks steer clear of the cherry chill, EWWWWW

Thanks for the Fair Warning!

When I tried it, I thought Cherry Chill tasted like Luden's Cough Drops...

I used to eat them like candy - my Granny always carried them for me in her HUGE purse. No MF bars there - just boxes of Luden's Cherry Cough Candies/er...Drops, a box of Kleenex, a change of underdoodies, etc.!

Wish I could chew more gum but I'm limited to Freedent because I had implants done several years ago and all the regular gum sticks to my teeth. :x Wish Freedent made more flavors because you can only chew it for a short time before the flavor leaves. Sometimes chewing gum makes me hungry! Does that happen to anybody else?

Gerimarc ~

Good observation --- chewing gum or sugar-free mints DOES activate the stomach juices, making one have the sensation of hunger...I don't chew it very often for that very reason BUT it does help to freshen your breath.

When you are in the fat-burning stage, you get  skunk breath and your mouth gets really dry. To help with that, it is better to drink lots of water, brush your teeth AND tongue and the roof of your mouth. I use a tongue scraper. Sugar-free gum and mints actually exacerbate skunk breath...

This is REALLY a lot of information.....

Is there actually something called a "tongue scraper”?? I mean to you head o'er to the corner Rexall, and tell the teen behind the counter you need a tongue scraper? Do they reply/glare with a "deer in the headlights" look, or do they direct you to isle 5 for tongue, and callous scrapers?

I am 42, been alive for about 15,000 days, and have never had the needs, or the necessity to know if something like this really exists….

Must be a guy thing.

yes there are tongue scrapers - I think they came out a few years ago when it was discovered that brushing your tongue helped get rid of bad breath.

I'm really hoping that my gum isn't making my breath worse, like Nancy says - if that's the case I'm in trouble. Haven't knocked anybody over yet that I know of.

I'm sure you're fine, Carrie. Given what you've posted about the people at your office, I'm confident someone would have let you know (either directly or behind your back) if you had bad breath!

Also, just tried Dentyne Tango mixed fruit - YUM

The Carefree Koolers in pina colada and lemonade are also super tasty - but the flavor only lasts a few minutes.

And that's the latest on the gum review front......
