Hey Beth-

I am sorry you are sad. I hope nothing I have posted has offended you, if so I apologize, for none of my opinions are directed towards anyone personally. I am still fairly new here so I am unsure of everyones boundaries which is why I dont go in depth with certain topics.I am here not to hurt anyones feelings, only to respect and support everyone, when they are happy or sad or whatever else feeling they are in. I have found your posts towards me to be helpful. I dont like hearing anyone to be sad.So sending some smiles your way... :D :) :-P

HI Beth, I'm prolly too late, but I've got some tips for your sinuses and IBS. I have sinus issues, and the hubs has IBS --well, had is a better word. When you get stuffy, scrape your teeth on a clove of raw garlic, just a little bit all day long. It has anti-bacterial/vial/infalmmatory/fungal properties and I swear by it! It saved me whn I was pregs with twins and could barely breathe for various reasons. One side of my face was swollen beyond recognition, and I was blowing incredible amounts of mucus. After chewing for a night, totally gone.
For IBS, got to The Vitamin Shoppe and grab their house brand aloe vera caps and some probiotics. Aloe sooths, heals, and cleanses. It causes some "movement" but a lot of people who have IBS actually have an issue with their intestines having blockage, which causes lack of nutrient absorption, and the blockage causes diarhea. (Common in overweight folks) It fixed my hubby. I managed the Vitamin Shoppe a few years ago, and I learned a lot from a naturo-path. My hubs could never just go to dinner and a movie--we always had to run home! Until precious aloe. And I had many many customers thank me!
Anyway, hope this helps someday. Keep up the good wrok, and feel better!

I was 150.2 last Sunday. I snuck on the scale on Wednesday and was 148.7.

So on that day, I decided that I wanted to have an awesome weight loss week... so I:
Started having no bars, only shakes...
And I upped my water to 100 oz a day from 80 oz...
And I stopped adding extra salt to my food...
And I cut my tea/coffee down to one cup per day...
And I limited the Equal I add to the shakes normally...

And ever since I started doing those things, I hit a plateau. Hmmmmm. No loss at all since Wednesday. Well, 1/10 of a pound, to be exact- I weighed in at 148.6.

Now, I did get TOM this week. And I had a cup of Lipton soup after my dental fiasco on Wednesday. But the soup should not make a difference this major.

I just hope that a slow week does not discourage me to cheat. I know when I see a small drop I lose my momentum and I am going to try my hardest not to let that happen!

Beth, I am the same way, if it is a little to no loss, my 'cheat devil' kicks in and takes position on my shoulder.... then everyday becomes a struggle til i see more loss.....

i'm trying to get rid of the scale this week, so i'll keep you in mind when i'm being tempted and hope that you are staying strong also.... Let's try to not obsess about the scale this week, instead lets work on getting throught the week compliant. Do you take your measurements? I do, and i'm going to take them today and not take them again til next sunday... if the scale doesn't change too much, the measure should move, right?

Hope you have a great MF day... as they all say "keep your eye on the prize" :cateye:

Weren't you also sick though? When I was sick that week I was Miss Fluctuation even though I was compliant. Also remember, we are limited in caffeinated beverages according to the quick start guide because they can cause jitters, but caffeine is also a diuretic. I don't know how much you were drinking but that coupled with increased fluid intake could cause bloating.

Hi Beth~ just wanted to say Hello! I'm still trying to get to know everyone so I've been reading bits and pieces of everyone's journals. I'm not sure how wise that was though, because I am beginning to fuse little bits of information together from each of our journals. I think I have created a new person totally. What's funny is I think that person is all of us. Maybe we need to name this person that we all are? Am I making any sense at all? I'm not even sure where all of this is coming from or why I am telling this to you! :idontknow:

Anyway, you are doing great. You are obviously commited to losing the weight and I look forward to watching and sharing in your progress.

I don't know what happened to me yesterday. I got profusely busy with household chores and laundry- and I somehow only had 2 shakes, 1 glass of water, and my normal MF dinner. How the heck....?

So... back on as normal today! How weird- I guess I was just not hungry enough to remember to eat????????

Well, I am back at work after a long weekend...

I am feeling really discouraged. I know I am being silly, but I can't help it. After only losing 1.6 lbs last week, I got upset. I have lost that drive I had after my first week, and need to get that back. My husband said that I shouldn't weigh myself for 2 weeks so I have a bigger loss to see.

I really need to see a big loss in the next few weeks. That is the only thing that motivates/inspires me. I see so many people losing 3-4 pounds a week that 1.6 means nada to me.

I'm really sorry Beth. I am not an oldtimer so I can't offer bunches of sage advice. I can say from watching the Biggest Loser that often the thinnest people (you qualify) have the hardest time dropping big numbers.

Try to think of it this way...maybe this week you didnt lose that much....but....next week you will hit big.Like that one guy on the Biggest Loser did...you only have 23lbs left till your goal...you are doing great and will be there very soon. I know it. Keep positive!!! :)

Hey, Beth -

Sorry you're feeling discouraged, but 1.6 pounds is a lot for someone who doesn't have a lot to lose. Really, chin up, little lady! Those of us who have lost more each week usually weighed significantly more, sometimes twice as much. You have to look at your loss as a percentage of your total weight, as opposed to just actual pounds.

Definitely don't let it be a reason to back away from compliance - your frustration should actually get you even more in the zone to make the right choices, you know, fight the system! :-)

Keep smiling!

I know, I just weighed the same last Wednesday as I did for weigh-in on Sunday, so I know I am on a plateau.

I probably won't weigh-in or measure this Sunday and will just wait until the 28th. This way if I am on a plateau this week again, I will never know.

It makes sense in my head.
