Got rid of the LUMPIES....

Postby MusicalMomma » February 6th, 2006, 6:42 pm

hey all! If this idea is a repeat, I apologize. Since so many of us are new, I thought some of you could benefit from this....

To get rid of the lumps in the hot drinks....first put the drink mixed with COLD water in the blender (I use the Hamilton Beach personal blender) and blend for a few seconds....then zap it for 1-2 minutes in the microwave IN A LARGE coffee mug...they all get a frothy head and is oh so yummy (add some sugar free syrups and cinnamon as desired ;) )

I absolutely love my Dutch choc. shakes hot. I first mix them in my shaker with cold water, nuke for 1.5-2 minutes. They are so thick and creamy, mmmmmm. Since I'm cold all the time, hot is good. I've even been drinking my water a little warm, lol.

I have one of those Hamilton Beach little blenders at work. Love it, Love it, Love it. Hey everyone, it was cheap, too.....about $13.95!

I make my hot cocoa in a Blender Bottle, after first heating the water. Same effect, and more portable. No lumps and a wonderful froth on the top.

You heat the shakes, though? Do they taste like hot chocolate that way (the chocolate shakes, at least)? I hate the shakes otherwise, but maybe I should try heating one instead.

Robin, I like the shakes better than the hot chocolate. I have to doctor up the Hot choc. I've always liked the shakes, though, so I guess you'll just have to try it and see.

If you like the vanilla shakes, they're good hot, too, with a little cinn. and nutmeg.

OK, I'll have to try this tomorrow. I'm thinking chocolate shake with a little hazelnut syrup, just like I do with the cocoa. Those shake packets are just taking up space in my pantry anyway, so I may as well give it a shot.

I LOVE the cocoa.

I also found that the Hamilton Beach personal blender is a great thing to have. I have one at home and one at my desk. Target had them for $15 so it was cheap enough to buy two rather than carry it back and forth to work. As stated by MM, it works great to mix the hot drinks before heating.

Keep on shakin

Hi all:

This is day uno for me. My Medifast was waiting for me yesterday when I got home from work.

I just had the dutch chocolate shake with 6oz of water, 4 ice cubes and SF Caramel. It was delicious. :D

I love shakes but think I'll try the french vanilla heated this afternoon. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, OK, I tried heating up a shake this afternoon. And ... boy, tastes must vary a lot. I took one sip and the rest went straight down the drain.

I think it's the chocolate flavor of the shakes that's off for me. I find the chocolate in the cocoa and the pudding much more real.

THANK YOU for the information about how to get the lumps out of the hot chocolate!

I love the hot chocolate, but the lumps were getting to me and this is the best way for me at work!

I tried heating a vanilla shake with apple pie spice in it yesterday. I was very sceptical but found it was alright. Now it is certainly not my favorite but it was good enough I will probably have it now and than just to shake things ups some.

Thanks for the tip, I will try just about anything once.

Robin, try putting some SF choc syrup in the shake, see how that taste.

That might help, Lori. Although at some point it's not really worth the trouble, you know?

I'm down to just one box of chocolate shakes and half a box of banana. I should probably just trade them for something I like better.
