goal splurge

Postby fuelman » April 11th, 2006, 4:27 pm

I have been planning`for my first goal of 20 LBS. lost to eat one of the foods that I miss the most. This time it will be Beef, bean & cheeze Buritos:bib:. I know this is not on the plan but I figured it would'nt hurt me.

How long will it take to get back to a ketosis state?
Will this cause me any problems?
Is what I'm gonna do just STUPID:huh:

Thanks

One of the great things about Medifasting is that you get to break bad, fatty habits (like bean & cheese burritos) and develop a healthier way of eating and living.

Once you are on for a while your tastes change, because your body realizes you have been feeding it healthy, nutritious food and once you stuff junk food crap into your face again your body will let you know how much it doesn't like it lol.. (read: serious diarrhea).

I really don't think it would be a good idea to reward yourself with food, when food got you to this position you are in in the first place. Find a NEW reward, something you like to do maybe? Maybe going to a nascar race, or buying a smaller size in clothing for example!

You are doing great so far, don't mess with it. :) That food will be there (in moderation) once you are at goal... If you still want it hehe.

Yeah, I have to agree. Rewarding yourself with a food goal is not going to help you. This is setting you up for failure when you reach your final goal.

I agree with Pashta & Ascicles ... Don't do it! Image
Non-food rewards are much more appropriate.

A great idea for a non-food reward is to pamper your new leaner body a little and spend some quality time at a day spa. My wife did that at every 10 lb mini-goal and was very happy with it. Me, I buy new clothes.

If you really want to reward yourself with food (let's face it, sometimes we want to eat something special), go with something legal. Have 5 ounces of a good steak, or 7 ounces of lobster, or whatever it is you like to have. You can really enjoy every bite, knowing you're treating yourself in a way that's good for you.

Ohhhh Yes,
Robin is soooo right. Reward yourself with something totally legal and wonderful. I'm afraid not only will you cause yourself problems program wise. You will have to take another three days for you body to adjust again but you most likely will be afflicted with all the fore mentioned problems. Need I say run quickly!!!

My experance with using food as a reward is it gets too easy to say oh I will go off the plan and start back tomarow. A few days later oh that looks so good to eat, oh one meal off plan won't hurt I will just start back fresh later... and the cycle goes on.

Everyone is right, we need to re-train ourselves into seeing food as fuel for our bodies. So much of life these days revolve around food, we need to take that factor out of the picture for now. Think of something you enjoy other than food and find a way to turn that into a reward for yourself.

Keep up the great work!

DON'T DO IT !

Postby electra000 » April 12th, 2006, 12:49 pm

I can tell you from experience DON'T DO IT !!!!! I was feeling great and decided I would just go off plan for the weekend. I felt terrible afterwards and found that it is just that much harder to get going again. You will be out of ketosis and you will have to start over again! Believe me. IT IS NOT WORTH IT !!!

Thanks for the input. I do like the idea of 7 ounces of lobster.
It's legal and I do like Lobster. I think I will take the family out for a Lobster dinner.:chef:
Thanks for the help!
P.S. I'm gonna eat only the Lobster and a side of green vegetables
