? for Nancy or another MF pro

Postby SueInSLO » February 24th, 2006, 2:34 pm

Hi there,

I'm a regular blood donor and wondered if I should or shouldn't give blood while I'm doing MF?? I hadn't thought about it till I got my reminder call to come in.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks so much Tim for the speedy reply!!

I'll let them know to take me off the "call list" for the time being.

I was kinda upset when I read that. I usually give blood every 6 weeks or so. It made me actually not want to do this and just do some other plan IN the end, I decided to just wait a while on donations.

Hi sidrah!

I was disappointed of course that I couldn't give blood right now, BUT, I consider getting myself healthy much more important at this point.

There will be lots of time to give blood once I reach my goal weight and am eating healthy and normal again.

My daughter and I give together, so I still went with her and the Blood Bank people were great and very understanding.

You'll be back to donating too and they'll be happy to see you back.

Hi, Sue -

I am a regular donor as well, usually every 8 weeks, and was bummed to hear we can't donate. However, I've organized and run quite a few blood drives since my high school years, so volunteering to help is a good solution, and we can still advocate for others to donate during this time. Perhaps now's a good time to re-encourage our friends and family to donate?

Guess it's something we can look forward to when we get to our maintenance stage...
