Whenever I undertake a major project, I find it helpful to establish "mini-goals" so that I don't get overwhelmed. I also have found that it helps me to share my mini's with others so that I am more accountable. So, here it goes...

...My first "MediFast Mini-Goal" is to lose 10% of my starting body weight (for me, this is 20#)

Great post Lynda! I don't think I'm classified as a newbie, but here goes...

I am almost at 10% of my starting weight gone...(28.2 lbs) that was my first goal...

After that (very soon I trust) my next goal is 37 pounds more by Memorial day weekend, a total of 65 pounds gone, for my daughter's high school graduation. She is shooting for valedictorian and have a VERY good shot at it, so I want her to be as proud of me as I am of her!!! :)

I guess these aren't really what I call "mini" goals. I always saw those at 5 pound incriments. But, like you, I need to make myself accountable :)

There's also a tread, I think in the weight room, about summer goals :)

Good for you

Did you know that parting with just 10% of your body weight means you have improved your health dramatically and lessened your changes of weight related illnesses?? Good for you -- you are doing the best thing for yourself. Of course parting with the extra pesky pounds will also be a wonderful thing -- but you are certainly starting out right!! :D

Oh, I  you! Goals are a good thing!

Terry and I have always made short-term and long-term goals. It feels so good to attain them. It sure helps when we know where we're headed

MusicalMomma, just look at your daughter - she's got goals, too - graduation is good and wow! :thumbig: to be Valedictorian is a wonderful thing for her to aspire - she must be following your example!

Well, of course I'm thrilled with any pounds gone but my goals are probably a little larger than mini-goals. That's what's in my heart and head though so it's what I will share.

I started at 296 (now 288)

1st goal is 265 because it's where I was in October before I got sick and ate my way through both that and the holidays...all the way back up to 296.

2nd goal is 238 because it's the smallest I've been in my adult life.

3rd goal is one-derland. :D

My mini goal would have to be to weigh 220 that is where I was before I packed on an extra 50 in a year. I hope to be there by sometime in April.

Ok, I'll post a mini goal, too.

Mine is: Get below 205. That is the least I've weighed in 13 years.

Next: Onederland!

I only have 13 lbs to go to reach my first minigoal.

I know you gals will do it, too! You'll reach those mini-goals and one day you'll turn around and look in the mirror and say, "Shazzam! It was worth it ALL!" You'll look back at your 'before' pictures and be so proud of yourself and your 'before and afters' will serve to inspire other newbies joining the journey, too.

Just keep checking in, report your weight every week in the Roll Call Room - there's something about that accountability dealybob when we type in the truth each week. Posting our pictures is also good because when we know others are peeking at us, we want to please ourselves but we also want to please one another!

Go, Team, go! :goteam:

:secret: Serendipity Jo, I like that like ticker-tracker ya got there but it sort of cracks me up. I usually do not wear my glasses when I am working on the computer or loping around the cottage here and when I look at your little ski dude there and the mountains, I think it says "height tracker"...oh, how I wish I could heighten! Hah! If I could, I'dda had another chocolate covered frozen nanner in Mouseland 2 weeks ago. :hmmm: Hee hee!
