first 3 days

Postby guest » September 28th, 2005, 10:01 am

Hi, today is my first day on the 5 and 1 plan. I have seen it said that the first three days are important to my success on this plan. Can anybody explain that to me? Is it just the getting through the first three days that are the hardest and therefore if you make it past those first three days you will be successful?

I've tried every diet known to man, even considered surgery. This just has to work.

I would like to lose 80-90 pounds if that is even possible. Any encouragement would help right now! Thank you from Houston.

Guest..........the reason being the first 3 days are the hardest is............our bodies are ridding themselves of the junk we have stored and replenishing it with excellant nutritous food/supplements..... .......now in that process our bodies go thru withdrawel........and you MAY or may not experience fatigue...headaches....much like any other withdrawels..........after the first 3 days our bodies go into a mild state of ketosis..........a wonderful fat burning stage.............if we are always compliant we will always be in that stage of FAT & FLAB BURNING.........just follow the plan and this will be your ticket to a healthy slender body..........and it is possible to lose whatever amount of weight you desire..............read as much of this forum as possible.........read quick start....over & over...........and Success in a Jar...........they are very resourceful books.............YOU CAN DO THIS...and YOU DESERVE IT!!!!!!!

Guest--

The best advice I got is "tell yourself you can do ANYthing for three days".

What I found when I started is:

1. It took some work getting all the water down.

2. I had some cravings and hunger pangs.

3. I had to get used to making meals for myself and my boyfriend that were "Lean and Green" friendly as well as filling for him.

4. I kept going to the fridge door as if there was something actually IN there for me other than ice cubes and celery stalks!

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that:

1. This got easier by the second day --once I started "scheduling" the water just like I do my MF meals.

2. they went away the second day and instead I felt GREAT--high energy and very upbeat in mood.

3. This turned out to be easier than I thought. Healthy portions of meat, poultry or fish for us both and a green steamed or broiled vegetable (we love broiled zucchini) and for him, a little wheat pasta or rice.

4. I cleared a space in my kitchen for all my MF stuff and now I go THERE instead of the fridge. I keep track of my stock--DON'T want to run out unexpectedly...and I plan the next day's meals.

It really works, guest. I couldn't get a pound to budge until I found this program. Try hard to follow it to the letter when you begin and you'll find that the weight you lose will inspire you to stick to it.

:)

Good luck!

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and words. I guess the hunger part is what is the hardest today, I can usually get the water in. It's 2:00 pm and I have had 4 supplements, I am scared that I am eating too close together but I'm starving!

Hey...4 supplements is just about right! I do mine like this:

6am
9am
12:00 noon
3:00 pm
Lean and Green as close as I can get to 5:30pm
7:30 or 8:00

I'm an early riser and early to-bed-er so this works for me. You'll find what works best for you as you go along.

If you're really struggling today..remember these things!

You are allowed one snack per day in addition to your 5 medifast meals and your lean and green meal. THey're listed here somewhere...and/or are printed in your guide. (one package of medifast crackers can do SO much to cure that need to crunch--don't substitute regular crackers!)

If you really are just going off the edge crazy, have an additional supplement rather than any "real food" item. A shake would do the least damage, as it's got the least carbs.

You can get through this. Promise. :)

Oh...if you haven't read it...download the NEW quick start guide. It's a great resource and helps you get your head on straight. I don't know if it's available here in this forum but you can get it at medifast's main site in the download section.

Are there any snacks I can have besides Medifast crackers or the fast soup?

Here's the current list:

The recommendations for snacks is as follows:

You can have one snack per day.

The snack can be any of the following: 2 dill pickles, 3 celery stalks, 1 c Sugar-free Jell-O, 1 Bouillon, 1 Packet of Medifast Crackers, or 1 Medifast Fast Soup.

We recommend that you only have one snack per day due to the additional carbohydrates and calories. When doing the program you are trying to maintain between 80-85 grams of carbohydrates and 800-1000 calories, in order to stay in the mild dietary state of ketosis.

Hi Merika, and welcome. Sure it's possible to lose 80-90 pounds. Martha's done it (78 ) , and I've done it (87), just in this year! Others around here have too, most notably Nancy, who lost something like 135 pounds in less than eight months. Stay with it -- you'll love it! And . . . we're having fun!

Hi martha, I'm from Houston, Texas.

Well, I know I probably shouldn't have weighed this morning, but i just couldn't help myself... i lost 2 lbs my first day, i know that just water but it helped mentally after such a rough day yesterday.

Is it ok to take an appeite suppressant? At least for a couple of days anyway?

Hey Merika, good for you! Who cares if it's water, fat or whatever! Don't short yourself on your efforts--two pounds is two less pounds for you to carry around. :)

I don't know about the appetite suppressants but I'm betting that after a few more days you're not going to feel that urge. Might be something to call the medifast advisors about.

I know I wouldn't take something if it tends to make you jittery. That sure won't help.
