First Day is Today

Postby Wisp » May 17th, 2005, 8:55 am

Good Morning Everyone:

My box arrived yesterday and this morning I started with a dutch choc shake at about 7:30am. It is 8:30am and I already feel hungry. I think it is too soon to have another shake so I am going to drink some black tea,as many cups as it takes to fill me up.

Because of reading all of your posts last week, I do believe that I can force myself to follow this program. I really want to do this. I have 60 lbs to lose and my knees are really hurting me. I am breaking them down carrying around all this weight.

I brought all my boxes to work today, enough for this whole week. I plan on having a soup for lunch and shakes in between to make a total of 4. Then I have a bar, I hope I can save it for tonight. Thank you all of you for setting such a good example and giving me hope to follow in your footsteps.

Good for you, Mary Lou! You can do this!

In my three days OP, I've lost 5lbs. I can fully support, now, everyone's comments that the first three days are the toughest.

Hang in there... every little success will give you just that much more of a sense of pride and determination!

Thank you everyone

Thank you for your replies. I hope I have good results as you both have had. I will not cheat. Yesterday at my work they had a lovely cake and I did not have any. I was able to survive without it. They always have some fattening thing around here. So I know pizza would be a tough one not to eat. But it only makes sense that if you want this to work - you have to follow the rules. I am prepared to follow the rules. and the good thing is - the choc shake tasted delicious, the oatmeal does too and I bet the other things taste good too. That will really help.

Thank you again for support. I think that makes this easier. :exercise:

You can do it! Stay away from temptation as much as possible, especially in the beginning. For the first month I could not even feed my kids certain foods because I just didn't think I could handle seeing/smelling them, but now I can. I still won't buy them my very favorite foods, tho. I'm not going to test myself in that area!

This diet is so doable. Just pick a packet and shake it up! :beerbeer:

about the tickers

Postby Wisp » May 17th, 2005, 11:32 am

I love all of the tickers. I wonder if you have to go back to their website to change it to an new one when you have lost weight and need to move your ticker down the line?

I think you do with tickerfactory. With mine, I just change the "pounds lost" number in my profile.

Funny you mention making food for your kids. This is only my 5th day (doing real good so far) and yesterday my son finds a bag of popcorn (that was in the give away box) and asked me to pop it for him. I was like no way :o . Of course he doesn't understnad mommy and daddy are on diets (he is only 3). So at first he got mad that I ouldn't pop it for him luckily though he loves fruit and we still had some strawberries in the fridge. While hopefully the temptation to eat something like popcorn goes away, I definetly didn't want to test my resolve so early in my program.

Yworry~~popcorn is a tough one for me. The smell of it is what gets me every time.

During my 1st week, my husband popped some popcorn and the smell was just driving me crazy. And then I thought to myself.......taste is not the only thing that is enjoyable.......so I decided to just enjoy the smell instead of being angry that I couldn't eat it...........and suprisingly that worked. I truly just enjoyed the sense of smell for once instead of the sense of taste.

Weird, I know! What can I say? I'm often a little weird. :nana:

Marylou,
You do have to go back to tickerfactory every time and create a new ticker. People don't seem to mind though, because they can get a new one each week.

NOT weird at all! What you missed is the halo that you got. Didn't you see it? You smell and enjoy, you resist and then you get your halo! Sometimes I feel so self-righteous -- but it is how I often walk away from food -- with my halo firmly attached.

Oh, my! Popcorn is something I could not deal with for months. I love it - half of my 265 pounds of pre-Medifast Flab-o-lah was from eating a cube of butter a day; the other half was from eating two bags of Micropopcorn daily...I wouldn't have fixed the popcorn either!

I agree with sniffing foods - there is great pleasure that can be derived from sniffage but for some of us, even a sniff can trigger longings that are better not stirred.

Funny y'all should be talking about popcorn tonight. DH just made some microwave cheese popcorn for himself and dd. :x Yep, they are crunching and munching all around me even as I type this. (At least they don't like kettle corn, my fave!)

hi mary lou!

how are you doing today? i hope all ended up ok for you after your first day. im sure you did just fine! the best thing is that you came on here and vented/shared your concerns. i absolutely  this board and this plan.

donicab and nancy: smell is a HUGE trigger for me. i cannot walk through certain aisles in the grocery store right now because i know i am vulnerable! its so funny but i think i could sit in the baked goods aisle and smell a loaf of plain ol white bread and have a freak out!

yworry: my husband is a thin dude and he can eat everything! i cant imagine what it must be like to have children while doing this. it must be a real challenge. however, you are both setting such a wonderful healthy example for your little one.

everyone have a good day
