Yes, the mat makes all the difference in the world for me too Sylvia. Luckily I have a tumbling type mat from my Aikido training, that is extra thick - With a plain exercise mat, I couldn't pull my knees up without it hurting my tailbone - but with the thick one I do just fine.
I am of course doing a beginner workout, but it seems like I'm seeing a difference already. And a new wave of 'you look good' comments is flooding in, though I've been stubbornly hanging in the same weight range for 3 weeks now.
I try to have a 'no excuses' attitude about it. It's just something I do every day. No ifs, ands, or buts.
