Fibrous Lean and Green

Postby Stihl » July 15th, 2009, 3:05 am

Hi all. I'm trying to add more fiber into my diet via the Lean and Green, meaning I need to know which vegetables compatible with 5&1 have a lot of dietary fiber.

I know green beans are one (though they are carby...) What are some others?

Are there any dietary fiber supplements that are 5&1 compatible?

Green beans aren't that carby. This might help (but you can also just look up individual veggies on The Daily Plate or a similar site):

Vegetables with Six Fiber Grams
Edamame (1/4 pound)
Jicama
Lima Beans (Fordhook)
Parsnips
Peas (Green)

Vegetables with Five Fiber Grams
Garbanzo Beans

Vegetables with Four Fiber Grams
Brussels Sprouts
Cabbage (Savoy)
Edamame (1/2 cup)
Eggplant
Endive
Fennel
Green Beans
Kohlrabi
Okra

Vegetables with Three Fiber Grams
Beets
Broccoli
Broccoli Raab (Rabe)
Cabbage (Green)
Carrots
Cauliflower
Corn (1/4 pound)
Hearts of Palm
Mushrooms (Enoki, Oyster)
Peas (Sugar Snap, Snow)
Potatoes (White)
Rutabaga
Sweet Potato
Robin
