A few misc questions about the plan

Postby Elidh » June 16th, 2006, 5:09 am

Hi -

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask these questions, but here goes (Ive been on the 5 + 1 plan for almost 3 weeks now):

1. Can I combine my daily lean and green meal with a medifast supplement? For example, add the veggies to a MF soup? Add meat and veggies to the chili?

2. In selecting a salad dressing (aside from a MF salad dressing) what are the limits for calorie, fat and carb content?

Thanks!

Hi There! I will do my best to answer your questions the best I can

1 You should not combine the MF meals w/ your L&G because everything is balanced out for us on the program. It is suggested that you eat your L&G at one sitting however there are some who split it but I have not heard of anyone using the veggies with a MF meal. I might be wrong on this one so hopefully someone will correct me if I am.

2. I use Walden Farms dressings which have no calories, carbs, or fats but you can also chose a low fat low carb dressing from the store. A lot of people on here use the dressing on the side and dip their fork in the dressing and then get a bite of salad. When you use this method you really use very little dressing.

Hope that helped a little.

Everything that I have seen discourages you from combining any or all of your L&G with a MF supplement. The L&G portions are balanced for that meal sitting, so the more you mess with it, the more you mess with the overall balance of the program.

Some people do it without a problem, but the six meals are spaced out throughout the day to ensure you are eating at regular intervals and not spending too much time while awake between meals. If you split the L&G so that you are eating it with supplements instead of separately then you are no longer have six distinct meals which is part of the program.

Hi there!

Well, I have used tomatoes, onions, and garlic in my chili, but haven't added anything else of substance to any other Supplement. I'm sure that you could do this and then split it in half, eating one for one meal and one half for the other?

As far as dressings, I also use lowcarb (sugar free) low fat dressings at a very minimum and haven't had any big problems.

I hope that helps a little?

Hi !

From what I have read you should not combine your lean and green with your Medifast supplements. It should be a totally separate meal. I have added a couple of tablespoons of chopped tomatoes to my chili, but on days that I do this I subtract this from my veggie portion of the lean and green.

As far a dressing goes, I love the Medifast dressing, and luckily I have about four boxes left. I ordered before they started reformulating it. I hope it is back in stock soon. I have read on here that some people use the new wishbone spray dressing. You might check it out. I have not tried that one yet. :rose:

Hey, thanks to you all...The unanimous advice is to keep the L&G separate, so I will.

I hadn't heard about the spray dressing - I'll look for that.
